Paving slabs are a very good option for finishing a house plot. Quality material has a very strong base, no worse than concrete screed. The service life of the tile is large enough, of course, if it is handled normally. But the quality of the material is only half the battle, in order to create a strong coating, you need to take care of the foundation. After all, it will be laying on it. Consider the types of underlay material that are commonly used when installing paving slabs.

Types of grounds
When laying paving slabs on a normal earthen base, which involves deep bedding of groundwater, you should create a crushed stone base. It should have a small fraction, approximately 15 - 20 mm. If suddenly the fraction turns out to be slightly larger, then a special material should be laid on top of the gravel - geotextiles. It is necessary so that the sand layer laid on top does not go into the gravel. In the first embodiment, the presence of geotextiles is not required. After creating a double layer of the base of gravel and sand, you can lay the tiles. It should be noted that the installation site of the curb must be strengthened with cement mortar. Created base, in principle, will be enough for this type of soil.

When laying tiles on clay substrates, a slightly different backfill should be carried out. Since this type of soil absorbs water rather poorly and contributes to its stagnation. On a clay base, it is necessary to backfill a layer of gravel or gravel with a thickness of at least 15 cm. Then comes a layer of sand about 5 cm thick. Now the most important thing is cement-sand screed, about 5 cm thick, is poured. And only then, paving slabs are laid. At the edges of the canvas, cement barriers should also be created.

When laying paving slabs on soft soils, which consist mainly of clay-sandy soil, special layers of material should be laid. They should completely prevent the subsidence of the coating. The most important material in this multilayer structure is geotextile, which prevents moisture from entering the bedding. And then, there is the same composition of the base, as in the second case. Only with minor changes. Layers of gravel and sand should have a thickness of 5 - 10 cm, a final cement-sand screed, not more than 4 cm. And for all this multilayer construction, paving slabs are laid.
