Quartz-vinyl tile - the last word in the field of flooring. Both beautiful and wear-resistant and easy to install. But there are some limitations for gluing it. Which ones we will consider in more detail.

How compatible are quartz-vinyl tiles and wood floors
What is a wooden floor? These are boards. As a rule, uneven and creaky. In most cases, they are also stained in 10 layers, which slowly began to peel off. In some places mounting nails stick out. And the tree itself is subject to shrinkage.
Now imagine that all this “beauty” will be covered by a thin quartz-vinyl tile. After all, she glues directly to the base. Accordingly, all these imperfections will be visible on the new flooring. In addition, over time, the floorboards will again begin to “walk”, and with them all the glued tiles.
It is also worth remembering that wood absorbs moisture well. Although quartz-vinyl tile is durable, but it is not the most tight. With abundant moisture it can miss it, and the tree absorbs everything, which promises damage to the decorative flooring.

So now take off the entire floor and do the screed? Ideally, yes. But you can do without such global repair work, if you approach this issue with a "mind":
- Fix all floorboards, without exception, to beams or another base;
- Cover the plank floor with sheet materials such as a foner or OSB with a gap of 2-3 mm;
- Fix the sheets with screws, which should be at least 10 pcs. per sq. meter;
- Treat all joints and fasteners with non-shrink putty and allow it to dry completely;
- Sand the surface to perfect smoothness.

This option is cheaper and faster than with monopolizing the floor. After all, tiles on a fresh screed can only be glued for 28 days. But, it is worth knowing that this option of installing quartz vinyl tiles by replacing plywood and OSB sheets with cheaper fiberboard will not succeed even more budgetally. This is due to the same notorious ability to deform under the influence of moisture. And it is also not recommended to lay quartz-vinyl tile on the surface treated with drying oil.

Any backing and cork flooring are also not a good base for vinyl tiles. This limitation is due to the softness of these materials. And for thin and flexible quartz vinyl tiles, the hardness of the base is required.
