Garden paths made of natural or artificial stone are one of the main elements of landscape design for landscaping your home or cottage. A concrete slab for use as a track is usually made with a thickness of 5 to 8 cm. For this, molds from different materials are used (for example, from metal or wood). This happens as follows: first, stones are laid on the bottom moistened with water and the desired layer of concrete is laid on them. After all this is carefully tamped.

Laying concrete blocks is similar to laying road bricks. Most often, the blocks have a different curved shape, and therefore they are laid out quite densely due to the various kinds of depressions and protrusions of each element in the block.

Irregularly laid tiles

Like any slab, stone and concrete slabs also have two types of shapes. This is, as a rule, the correct geometrical form (triangular, square, rectangular) and not correct. Slabs of artificial stone can perfectly mimic a variety of different breeds of real stone and marble. Usually the plates are laid on the so-called "drainage pillow".

For not very large stone or concrete tracks, such a pillow is made up to 100 mm thick, made of sand. And for courtyards and already solid "roads" it is better to use pillows with a thickness of 300 mm and from gravel with a thin layer of 100 mm gravel. This layer is very carefully and carefully leveled and compacted.

Some methods of masonry

1. It can be laid out with one continuous flooring of one-color plates, which are laid close to each other. Between them, the seams can be sealed with cement mixture or sand;
2. Similar to the above, but already a mosaic of tiles of different colors;
3. The method of "bumps" (plates are placed at a distance of one step of a person);
4. And you can put it with a large gap between the plates. These cracks are filled with a special mixture of earth, sand, peat. Usually, various decorative herbs and plants are planted here, which can be trampled by feet. Usually in the fall, specially rooted young cuttings and seedlings are planted. And in the spring they plant seeds. Between the tiles, plants such as low-growing cloves, stonecrop, sandstone, armeria, Iberis, thyme, Erica, acena, dawn and saxifrage are most often planted.

Such tracks that are made of slabs of the wrong shape usually look pretty pretty. In such a path, you can leave a little free space and place small stones in them natural stones.

Tile mosaic flooring

During the laying of the garden path, limestone slabs of various shapes are also used. The width of the slab must be selected in proportion to the width of the future road or already finished. And the thickness can reach 100mm. For those slabs with a free form, the coating on the outside should be even. During laying, you need to adjust the edges so that then you get the impression that these stones were broken in place into various small pieces and small cracks remained between these pieces. Large gaps left after the plate is driven are most often filled with stone fragments.

On soils where clay predominates, water is not passed, and therefore it is necessary to build a base of sand. Stones and slabs are tightly laid on such a foundation, and this should not allow them to break or move during operation and operation. Well, the gaps remaining between the plates are filled with sand. On fairly wide roads or on platforms, the gaps between the gaps are filled with a special mortar with cement, the remains of which must be removed immediately to prevent drying out.
