Stages of restoration

At the first stage, you need to remove the old decorative layer using a grinding machine. In its absence, you can use sandpaper, however, it is worth considering that then the time of work will increase. Masters using a surface gage can do two tasks at the same time - to clean the surface of old paint or varnish and level it.

In the absence of this equipment, you can use a planer that runs on an electrical network. However, when using it, you need to be extremely careful, because incorrect actions can lead to damage to the clypeus.

After removing the decorative layer, you need to putty any cracks and chips, primer the surface and make sure that it is even. After that, you can start applying a new decorative material.

When choosing paint or varnish, it is worth giving preference to the second option. Varnishing will emphasize the naturalness of the wood and will not require repeated restoration after 2-3 years.

Use of antiseptic

Before coating the surface of a wooden platband with paint or varnish, it is recommended to impregnate it with a special antiseptic. It is guaranteed to protect the product from termites, moisture and ultraviolet radiation. Due to this, the product’s service life will increase, and it will not lose its technical properties.
