Concrete hollow core slab has been used for floor slabs for a long time. It is used in the construction of buildings from a wide variety of materials: reinforced concrete, wall block, brick, etc. At the same time, the calculation of the load that the plate will expose during operation is one of the most important characteristics. Its calculation must be carried out at the design stage. If you neglect the calculations or make a mistake, this will very negatively affect the operational characteristics of the building, even if it is a normal garage.

Advantages and disadvantages of using concrete hollow core slabs
During the construction of even such a relatively simple building as a garage, the question inevitably arises - how and from which it is better to make a ceiling?
Of course, there are a lot of options, but all of them are laborious - you need to mess with the beams, hem the ceiling, or knit a reinforcing cage, make formwork, knead on your own or order concrete. All this takes a lot of time and in the end it turns out not cheaper, and sometimes more expensive than making a ceiling of reinforced concrete hollow core slabs.

The advantages of the stove are as follows:
- Relatively light weight and low cost.
- Good heat and sound insulation.
- It is convenient to lay various kinds of communications in the longitudinal openings of the plates.
- The quality of the slabs usually corresponds to that declared by the manufacturer, since they are produced at large enterprises, and in artisanal conditions their production is disadvantageous.
- A wide selection of standard sizes. This allows you to order additional elements of the right size from the manufacturer.
Very fast installation, when compared with other types of floors.

Of the shortcomings of this material, it should first of all be noted the need to use heavy equipment - a truck crane or a loader. This, of course, negatively affects the total cost of the overlap. In addition, there are no serious shortcomings in the plates.
How to calculate the load on the slab
For the correct calculation of the load on the floor slab, you need to consider all the input. For example, to cover the garage, it is planned to use a 1PC63 hollow core slab. 12-8. That is, a plate of this type can withstand a load of 800 kg / m. Denote it by Q. After this, it is necessary to summarize all the dynamic, static and other loads: the weight of the plate, screed, insulation, etc. The total amount of all loads (denoted by QE) will help determine the maximum load that can withstand plate. As a result of all calculations (with the mandatory consideration of the strength coefficient), the result should be something like this: QEQ.

To determine the distributed load from the plate, you need to know its weight exactly. Typically, the manufacturer indicates it in the certificate. In this case, the weight of the plate is 1PC63. 12-8 is 2400 kg. First of all, the plate area is calculated. To do this, multiply its width by length. Let's say the area is 7.5 m. Now the weight of the plate should be divided by its area: 2400: 7.5 = 320 kg / m.
