The peculiarity of working with wallpaper is that even a small mistake can cross out a whole day of hard work. The most common and seemingly harmless mistake is to ventilate the room immediately after the wallpaper is pasted on the walls. Doing this is strictly prohibited. Why? Read below.

Creating the optimal microclimate in the room

Before working with wallpaper, it is highly advisable to provide suitable indoor conditions. Recommended indicators: temperature from +10 to +25 C, humidity indicator should not exceed 60%. If the room is too hot, the glue will dry quickly, the wallpaper will dry out and begin to fall off. Dry indoor air must be humidified with a spray gun. Do not allow direct sunlight to hit the wet surface of the wallpaper - this can lead to cracking of the material and the appearance of wrinkles on the surface. It is recommended to close the windows with blinds or curtains until the material dries completely.

How long the wallpaper dries

Here, as they say, everything is individual - different types of wallpaper can dry at different times. Paper wallpapers dry for about a day. Vinyl wallpapers - 48 hours or more. Throughout this time, it is forbidden to open not only windows, but also doors - the room must be completely isolated from drafts.

Expensive non-woven materials dry from three days to one week. At the same time, it is extremely undesirable to forcefully speed up the drying using fans and heaters.

Why it is impossible to open windows and doors after finishing work

This is necessary so that the glue does not dry out too quickly. Otherwise, the canvas will peel off partially or even completely - you will have to constantly glue joints or whole strips.

Paper and non-woven wallpaper are especially afraid of drafts and sudden changes in temperature. Vinyl wallpapers do not react so much to changes in temperature and humidity, but they can also frown and peel off, so it is advisable not to open the windows and doors until they are completely dry.

Even a small draft and a change in temperature can cause a swelling on the surface of the canvas, the wallpaper will begin to lag behind the surface, wrinkle and crack. In severe cases, you will have to redo all the work again.

The minimum period during which it is impossible to open the windows after wallpapering is 3 days. If wallpaper was glued on a non-woven basis, it is better to keep windows and doors closed for at least 5 days.
