Wood-fiber sheets (DVL) are often used in the installation of rough floors. In many cases, they are strongly deformed after installation, which indicates a failure to comply with the installation technology. In this situation, it is important to quickly carry out restoration work and eliminate the causes of deformations.

The reasons for the appearance of waves on the DVL
Like other building materials, similar in composition to wood tiles, DVL lose their original quality due to prolonged exposure to moisture. When it hits the surface, the DVL sheet begins to deform. This is a particularly frequent cause of the appearance of waves on the floor surface.
To avoid such a deformation, it is necessary to lay a special waterproofing material between the sheets of fiberboard and the laminate or linoleum. It will prevent the leakage of liquid and its negative effects on wood fiber. Also, the waterproofing pad will reduce the likelihood of condensation.

For this reason, it is not recommended to use DVL for installation in apartments on the ground floor with a low basement. In this case, it will be quite difficult to completely eliminate the likelihood of moisture.
Fibreboard processing
So that sheets of wood-fiber material do not lose their original characteristics and get the proper level of resistance to moisture, they need to be further processed. For processing, it is recommended to use drying oil or varnish for wood.
Materials must be applied in at least 3 layers. Each subsequent layer is applied after the previous one has completely dried.
Wall alignment dvl
Wood-fiber sheets can be used as a material for leveling wall surfaces in apartments and houses. In this case, they are mounted on a pre-prepared reinforcing mesh.

Before installing the boards, you need to make sure that the surface of the walls is thoroughly dried. If you ignore this requirement, you can get a poor quality result, in which the DVL will be deformed.
Many experts recommend using the material only for finishing the rough floor before installing linoleum, parquet or laminate. This is because its installation on walls rarely gives consistently positive results. For such purposes, it is better to use more durable and moisture-resistant drywall sheets.
