A lot of apartment owners during the renovation process the walls with plasterboard, and this solution has a number of advantages. The most significant of them, of course, is a perfectly flat surface. But when it comes time to hang any technique on the wall, most often it is a TV, questions arise: “Will the drywall support the weight of a particular unit?” And “How to fix it correctly?”. Surprisingly, a drywall wall is actually capable of withstanding a load of up to 50 kg, if properly distributed. Of course, it is best to determine where the TV will be before plasterboard sheathing and strengthen the supporting metal structure. But usually a TV is bought and installed when the wall is ready.

To mount the TV to the wall, you need to use special dowels for hollow structures that expand inside the wall. Of course, these are disposable products. If the weight of the equipment does not exceed 5 kg, a butterfly dowel is suitable. At the same time, it is important to calculate that the load falls only on drywall, without affecting the metal profile.

When the mass of the TV approaches 20 kg, an umbrella plug will be required. At least four parts will be required for fasteners to properly distribute the load. If it will exceed 20-30 kg, then we need a whole fixing system called "Hartmouth". It consists of a plastic and metal element and a special screw.

If the purchased equipment weighs more than 30 kg, you will need a hard bracket, which often comes with a TV. It will need to be strengthened with a dowel so that the load is on the drywall sheet and on the profile of the crate. Finding it is very simple - just hold it on the wall with a magnet.
If possible, at the stage of wall decoration it is better to reinforce not with wooden bars, and apply a reinforced profile with a thickness of 2 mm (usually it is used to strengthen the door openings). Then the drywall does not even begin to crumble or crack over time. You can also notice that in the kit with the TV, in addition to the bracket, plastic dowels can go. They can only be used when mounting to a concrete wall. For drywall you need to buy special products.

Thus, the ability of drywall to support the weight of the TV depends on the presence of reinforcement under the drywall, a strong profile, type of fasteners and the presence of an arm.
