The temperature inside the cold type attic is always not the same as outside. If the roof is covered with sheets of metal, then condensate will accumulate on them from below. Therefore, to protect wood and metal from evaporation, high-quality waterproofing is needed. It is mounted from a special material on top of the rafters with a stapler, and then a counterbasket is installed. After comes the crate and roofing sheets.

Roofing waterproofing is designed to perform the following tasks:
- Protect the profiled sheet from the inside from corrosion. On its lower part, covered only with varnish, the formation of corrosion patches is most likely;
- Do not allow the insulator to get wet. Wet insulation loses its working properties, which cannot be restored, even if it is completely dried. Waterproofing is located on top of the insulation, and perfectly protects it from moisture. It's about a warm roof. Cold can be operated without insulation;
- Protect the rafter system from getting wet. Usually rafters are made of wood, which is prone to rot and mold from contact with moisture. Even antiseptics cannot resist this effectively.

Experts advise laying waterproofing on all types of roofs, both warm and cold.
Material quality
Of great importance is the quality of the waterproofing material. You need to choose it taking into account the following signs:
- Density indicators - good waterproofing should retain water in case of leaks and not get significant damage during installation. The density of this material is 0.04 kg / m2;
- Vapor permeability values - in the warm air under the roof a lot of water vapor is collected. To take them outside, you need a well vapor-permeable material;
- Water resistance - high-quality waterproofing can withstand significant water pressure (10 MPa) for 10 minutes;
- Temperature limits of use - good insulation withstands operation in a wide temperature range;
- Non-combustibility - sheets of metal on the roof conduct heat well, so it is important that the waterproofing can not easily catch fire;
- UV resistance - a film even covered by roofing material is exposed to the sun. Good waterproofing must withstand UV exposure for more than 4 months.

For the waterproofing device, you can choose three types of materials: film, diffuse and rolled. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages, suitable for different types of roofs. For a cold roof, it is advised to use roofing material or fiberglass. For a warm roof, a material with high vapor permeability will provide better waterproofing.
Still, many are interested in the question: is it possible to save on laying waterproofing under a profiled roof, and do without it? Experts say that waterproofing is needed for any roof, but you do not need to save on it. Otherwise, the life of the metal coating will be much shorter.
