Errors in laying brick corners and walls and their solutions

Bookmarking the corners of the house is the first thing that starts the construction of walls. The quality of further masonry largely depends on this, so you should approach the work at this stage as responsibly as possible. When using a brick, it is advisable to move to the walls only after all the corners are laid out. This can cause difficulties for inexperienced masons, so in extreme cases, laying out is allowed two corners, building a wall between them, adding a third corner, again a wall, again a corner and again wall.

When laying corners, serious errors are often made. Basically, this is the beginner's sin, while experienced craftsmen usually know very well what important steps it takes to get an excellent result.

The first and most important error usually occurs at the beginning of work. Suppose the first row was laid, everything went without problems, so the bricklayer goes to the second row. You can make a mistake here already during the laying of the second brick. Often people put mortar on a vertical seam, install a brick on it, and then start tapping it. As a result, the second brick pushes the first a little forward. When laying the third brick on the seam and tapping on it, the first brick is also affected, it goes even further forward. The angle gradually collapses and goes to the side, which becomes apparent after checking its level. It is quite difficult to align the corner in such a situation, tapping on the corner brick is unlikely to help.

You can avoid the above problem. To do this, the corner brick should be placed on the vertical side without using mortar. Between the bricks, you just need to leave a small gap on the seam. Two fillet welds can be filled with mortar after the entire row has been laid. The angle will be even, since the corner brick will not be squeezed out by the solution too much.

The seams in any brick house in general need to be given special attention if you want to get a warm and comfortable building. Mortars today have become more effective. Modern technologies have affected their production. Expanded perlite, for example, using volcanic rocks, has high thermal insulation characteristics. If you add it to a cement-sand mortar, you can not be afraid of freezing walls. But at the same time, the cost of using perlite in brickwork can be very high, since its content in the solution is high.
Foamed polyethylene is a more affordable option for warming joints in stone walls, the thickness of which is two and a half to three bricks. Thin ribbons of this material are placed inside the seam in the middle of the wall. The channel for the release of heat is lost, since the solution layer is interrupted. It is completely useless to insulate seams in thin walls (one or two bricks), since the strength of the masonry decreases, but it still does not work to save the walls from freezing.
