The flat floor of the subfloor is the key to a reliable and aesthetic installation of any floor covering. Therefore, the preparation of the foundation is a paramount task, the solution of which is faced by all people who have undertaken large-scale repair work.
One of the most common methods of leveling the floor is the use of bulk mixtures. However, in the case of preparing a draft floor plane, this method cannot be called successful.

The first reason is that this method of leveling the floor is quite expensive. Most often it is used as a finishing method for surface treatment after installing a warm floor system. In other cases, you can do with budget methods.
Sanding the subfloor
Minor irregularities can be easily removed with a special grinder, which can be rented by a construction company. If the initial screed has a small amount of damage, you can do without using ordinary coarse sandpaper.

At the final stage, the prepared surface must be covered with a primer layer and allowed to dry completely. Only then can you start laying the flooring.
Sand and cement screed
If the differences on the floor plane exceed 1 cm, it is recommended to use the cement-sand screed method. It does not imply significant financial expenses, but differs in practicality and guaranteed performance.

You can make the mixture yourself. To do this, mix 1 part water and 3 equal parts pure sand and water. The consistency of the composition should resemble a thick sour cream.
When laying the screed on the floor plane, it is worth remembering the need to level its surface. For these purposes, a metal spatula is suitable.
The duration of time required for complete drying of the screed made of cement and sand varies within 28 hours. After the specified time period has elapsed, you should check its condition and grind it to smoothness using a wooden trowel.
Dry Screed Application
Another method is a dry screed, provided through the use of sheets of plywood, particleboard or drywall. It can be used if the ceiling height allows you to reduce it by 10-15 cm. That's because the technology involves fastening sheets to specially prepared profiles of timber, towering above the surface of the subfloor.
