The design of the interior walls of the room is the most significant final stage of any construction. Wallpaper, painting, tile, wooden wall panels have long ceased to be the only possible option. Decorative plasters - this is what today has not only become fashionable, but has firmly established itself among the finishing materials.

Among the variety of finishing materials offered, one of the most curious from the point of view of the designer is the Venetian plaster, affectionately nicknamed the "Venetian". Its history has deep roots dating back to the past centuries. Even in ancient Rome there was a special finishing composition based on marble-lime flour, and the technique of applying it, made it possible to achieve the effect of marble in the decoration of walls. And in the Renaissance, the Venetian gained wide popularity in Venice, from where, apparently, the final name was fixed to it. "Stucco veneziano" - liquid marble, it is such a translation from Italian that has "Venetian plaster."

This plaster is not accidentally distinguished from other finishing materials. Despite the fact that its application requires professionalism, the achieved effect often exceeds expectations. Its main feature is the imitation of valuable marble species, which differ not only in color but also in depth. Transparency, natural overflows, the effect of depth of light, the play of internal faces are transmitted thanks to the unique texture of this finishing material.
But not only the effect of natural stone can be reproduced with the help of Venetian plaster, but also “craquelure” - the effect the surface of the wall cracked from old age, which is successfully used to recreate interiors in the spirit the middle ages.

Venetian plaster is traditionally done in one color, but there is also a technology for creating multi-color coatings. The variety of finishes is also impressive. Finish varnish, acrylic varnish, protective wax, decorative additives, decorative enamel and water-dispersion paints make it possible to give the Venetian surface a unique finished look.

Modern compositions of Venetian plaster can be based on a lime binder, and on an acrylic basis. Outwardly, it is almost impossible to distinguish them. Apply the Venetian to a prepared, perfectly leveled surface. Material consumption typically ranges from 0.3 to 1.2 kilograms per square meter. The drying period is 24 hours. Over time, the coating becomes harder.

The process of applying plaster consists in the sequential application of individual layers of the composition with periods of drying. Sometimes three layers are enough to achieve the expected result, and sometimes seven. The technology for applying this finishing material includes smoothing, ironing, and polishing. In the finished form, the thickness of the finishing layer is from 3 to 5 millimeters, and the vapor permeability indicators remain high, which ensures a comfortable indoor microclimate.
In the finished version, Venetian plaster usually has a weak sheen, which is easily enhanced with wax. In addition to decorativeness, waxing increases the water resistance of this coating, which allows it to be used for finishing pools and bathrooms.

The surface of the Venetian plaster can be made in a matte version or in gloss. Sometimes it is made with a light relief. A variety of colors make room for imagination. Designers love this finishing material because with its help you can effectively recreate almost any planned image.
