Docking materials with the same thickness during repair is not a problem, but making the joint of materials with different texture and thickness look beautiful and complete is not such an easy task. Here you need to make a decision, taking into account the junction: it can be on the ceiling, on the floor or between two walls.
On one wall
For example, joints located in the same plane can be formed as follows:
- Emphasize the drop with a drywall sheet. The sheet at the junction will give a difference of 12 mm, which will separate the different materials, and the joint will look complete;
- Bring to the same level with the same drywall. Material that falls through needs to be “lifted” using GCR;
- Make a frame. For this, there are moldings and borders with which you can either select a fragment along the perimeter, or divide it;
- Artistically emphasize negligence. You can arrange everything so that when you look at the joint, you get the impression of a design idea;
- Beat the furniture. In this case, you can also do without a junction. Shelves hang around and arrange furniture so that objects emphasize the joint;
- Make the joint perfectly symmetrical. Even when installing materials, you will have to think through everything so that they fit together.

Corner joints
If two materials with different thicknesses meet in a corner, there may be an impression of sloppy or uneven angle. In this case, there are three solutions to the problem:
- Dock line offset. A smoother coating is wound on a wall with a thick finish, such as paint or plaster wallpaper. The junction line is shifted by 2 cm, while the uneven edge will not disappear, but on the plane it will not be so striking;
- Make a side. It is recommended to build a small side on the plane of one of the walls, and dock to it. It will look neat enough;
- Paint in one tone. If two dissimilar surfaces still have to be painted, then it is better to draw them in one color. The junction will be less noticeable.

Wall and ceiling
Often you have to face the problem of adjoining the wall to the ceiling or floor. If at the same time the materials converge in a corner, at the boundary of the surfaces, then the joint may look sloppy. Designers advise the following:
- If the wall adjoins the ceiling, the joint is masked by the institution of painting the ceiling on the walls. This option is not suitable if there are multilevel structures on the ceiling and with a complex perimeter line;
- If there is a ceiling cornice with a square lower shelf between the wall and the ceiling, then the material is planted on its lower plane. If the shelf is rounded, then you will need to beat off the transition with a white strip of narrow tape under the eaves.

Thus, for different options for joints of unequal thickness materials, there are various solutions. All of them help either deliberately highlight the joint, or hide it visually as much as possible.
