Before starting work on the dismantling of the rack ceiling, it is necessary to understand its design. The identification of important constituent elements of a ceiling covering will avoid a large number of errors.

Features of dismantling rack ceiling

After removing lighting fixtures from the structure, you can proceed to the subsequent disassembly of the ceiling structure. The next step is to remove the baseboard, fixing the structure around the perimeter of the room. To remove the baseboard, it is enough to use a sharp clerical knife, cutting its base and slightly pulling it to the side.

Modern constructions of rack-type ceilings are increasingly found without such a detail as a baseboard, and therefore, in this case, you can skip this step.

Common mistakes

Another common mistake is to start dismantling in the wrong sequence. It is important to remember that it is desirable to dismantle the structure, starting with the rail that was installed first. In this case, you can protect yourself from its premature destruction of the suspended ceiling, which can provoke the occurrence of problems with electrical wiring.

The rail needs to be pulled out only after removing the inserts securing it on both sides. If you ignore this factor, you can damage the fasteners.

The remaining slats must be removed strictly diagonally. To protect the panels from scratches and other visible defects, it is worthwhile to disassemble with maximum accuracy.

Dismantling the rack ceiling in the bathroom

Before starting to dismantle the ceiling in the bathroom, it is worth disconnecting the U-shaped profile using an ordinary screwdriver. All dowels on which the structure is supported must be removed from the surface of the walls. They should be easily twisted out. If it is impossible to unscrew the dowels, you need to use a hammer, knocking off their hats, or a drill.

Another mistake is to remove the extra panels if you need to replace only some of them. As already mentioned, in the process of dismantling the rails can be damaged, and therefore such errors can lead to additional financial costs.
