How to remove foam

Polyurethane foam is widely used in repair and construction, but it is very difficult to wash it from any surface, clothes or hands. Accuracy during use does not always protect against foam from surrounding objects. The article describes how to clean flooring, clothing and hands.

Floor coverings

Unfrozen foam is removed with a spatula, wooden sticks, paper. Residues are wiped with a sponge or thinner. Frozen pieces are removed using a special cleaner for polyurethane foam. It can also be removed with dimexide, which is dispensed in pharmacies without a prescription, costing less than special solvents. The upper part of the foam is cut off, and the rest is removed by dimexide.

From linoleum foam is removed with water, the tip is cut off, and the rest is soaked under a rag. The spots remaining after cleaning are removed only mechanically: by grinding. If the foam has got on a glossy or varnish surface, then the coating will have to be updated.

With increased grip on any surface, foam is almost built into the fabric of clothing. It is very difficult to remove it for good, especially if the stain is dried up. When removing foam, acetone and other strong solvents that can stain or scuff on clothing are not used.

For cleaning, you can try mounting foam solvents. They are of two types: for unhardened and hardened substance. In the first case, the clothes are cleaned with a wooden stick, and then the solvent is poured. In the second case, the foam is cut with a clerical knife, the product is applied, left for 20 minutes, and then removed with a sponge or brush. At the end, the clothes are rinsed in warm water.

Spoiled fabric can be soaked in gasoline or white spirit, then cleaned with a brush and washed with a stain remover. You can also use cold to freeze the foam, cut it off, and then use one of the solvents.

Leather

Unfrozen foam is removed with a damp rag or sponge, the remaining water with a scrub or brush. Caught foam can only be removed from the skin mechanically. She herself will easily depart within a few days.

Preparation to work with polyurethane foam helps to protect things around as much as possible: you need to cover window sills and the floor with covering material to the maximum. Choose old and unnecessary clothes and work with gloves.
