Furniture for children differs from the usual cabinet, special standards are presented to it. Not many manufacturers produce safe furniture that complies with the principles of ergonomics and ecology.

General points
Children's furniture is made of chipboard panels, which have several safety classes for the release of formaldehyde vapors and other harmful substances into the environment. Formaldehyde irritates the skin and mucous membranes, can cause allergies, with constant contact with the substance, nails soften, dermatitis and eczema appear. The safety class of chipboards for children's furniture should not exceed E1. The more environmentally friendly options are MDF panels and solid wood, from which cribs and changing tables for babies are made. Also, the second safety indicator is a good paintwork, which some kids can even bite.

Other safety aspects include the safe construction of furniture, orthopedic mattresses. Mattresses are best purchased hypoallergenic. If the bed is bunk, then the second floor should have high bounding sides. Furniture should not have sharp corners, only rounded, the edges should be fixed with soft material.

Furniture for babies
The crib for the baby should be made of solid wood: oak, beech, birch, walnut and the like. The bottom of the crib should be adjustable in height so that with the growth of the baby, the sides do not become low.

High chairs should be stable so that the baby does not roll over. The corners are rounded, and the seats are breathable so that the child’s skin does not shed. All folding elements should have clamps, changing tables - sides.

Furniture for preschoolers and schoolchildren
On beds for children, the presence of sides is desirable. The corners are rounded. The colors of the berth should correspond to the temperament of the child: for hyperactive ones, it is better to choose calm shades, for melancholic ones, it is better to add bright accents.

Doors of lockers should be equipped with closers that will protect the child's fingers from pinching. All furniture should be securely attached to the wall, no hanging cabinets and shelves.

Also, stools that do not support the child’s back cannot be purchased in children's stools. Chairs should be with rounded corners and an ergonomic back.

How to choose
It’s impossible to trust sellers and manufacturers, so when buying you need to require certificates of quality and safety. Also, all corners and edges are inspected for reliable fastening, furniture should not swing or have gaps between the fasteners.
