For the installation of interior partitions in the premises there is a very convenient and practical material - a tongue-and-groove plate. It withstands high mechanical loads comparable to other materials. Due to this, a hinged cabinet, shelves, and a suspended ceiling can be hung on a partition made of plates.

Conventional tongue-and-groove plates are hollow and full-bodied. The latter have great strength and weight, and therefore are not recommended for installation in rooms with floors laid on wooden logs. Hollow core slabs have good sound insulation. Both types of plates can be used in rooms with a normal level of humidity. For more damp places, moisture-proof plates of a greenish color are used.
Wooden floors are now used mainly in the construction of private houses, so such installation options for tongue-and-groove plates are not common. As already mentioned, hollow slabs with a lower weight compared to a full-bodied material are most suitable for this.

According to the technology, the length of the partition made of such material should be no more than 6 meters, and the height should not exceed 3.5 meters. With such dimensions, the partition has maximum strength. The base for the wall must be flat and stable. The floor must be cleaned of dust, dirt and level as much as possible. The base must be strengthened with a strong beam, which will not bend under the weight of the plates, and then cover it with a primer. Primer should also be at the junction of the partition with the bearing walls.

If the load-bearing walls are also wooden, then partitions from the tongue-and-groove plate should only be erected after the log has completely shrunk. Otherwise, vertical loads can destroy them. In addition, the room should be heated in the winter season. In cold rooms, stoves quickly pick up excess moisture, which will lead to mold.

In order to avoid destruction of the partition due to temperature differences and deformation of the wooden floor, it should be insulated with a special tape made of damping material. It will not only protect the plates from damage, but also significantly improve sound insulation. The tape is fixed to the base and in the places where the load-bearing walls fit together using mounting glue. To do this, it is applied to the base and load-bearing walls, then roll out the tape and press it with your hands. You can begin to build a partition no earlier than one hour after installing the tape.
