Most modern apartments are equipped with multilayer double-glazed windows. Such products have not been considered a rarity for a long time and few people are able to surprise. Their common disadvantage is a high degree of fragility. A crack in at least one glass layer renders the entire glass packet unusable.
Not many people know what glass can break on their own and what precautions need to be observed to eliminate unpleasant consequences.

The main reasons for the formation of cracks on the glass include:
- Physical impact in the form of pressure or shock;
- Rough movement of the sash;
- Mistakes made during installation;
- Atmospheric pressure or precipitation;
- Critical temperature.

If the first three points are more or less clear, then the last two can be given special attention.
What is a "critical temperature"?
The ambient temperature is not constant and prone to regular fluctuations. Under the influence of sunlight, not only the surface of the glass is heated, but also the gas located in the inner chamber of the glass. The gaseous substance expands under the influence of temperature, thereby increasing the force of pressure exerted on the glass walls. A sharp decrease in the temperature regime entails a drop in the pressure level. As a result of this, the glass undergoes slight deformation inward or outward, not always withstanding the received load.

Temperature change in combination with atmospheric pressure also poses a threat to the integrity of the installed double-glazed windows. A fairly common phenomenon when atmospheric pressure rises at low temperatures, but decreases at high temperatures. Such combinations critically affect the integrity of the glass.
Mistakes
A common mistake is the use of too thin glass in the manufacture of multilayer double-glazed windows of large size. Thin glass is much more prone to deformation, which is also the reason for the rapid failure of the product.
A crack in the window can at any time become an unpleasant surprise for its owner. There are many reasons for such a negative effect. Some of them are very difficult to determine at a glance. Having excluded some errors, a person will be able to protect their double-glazed windows from cracks as much as possible. For example, select qualified installers who will install the window, taking into account all technology; handle the product with care; in the process of ordering windows, pay due attention to the selected glass thickness.
