The worst water supply options for a country house

Water supply in the country is often of poor quality: this is due to the pressure of water and its purity. The most effective way to improve the flow of water into the house is to connect the water supply to the common system. But this option is not always available.

Well

The most inefficient way to supply water at home is to equip a well. If the well is dug shallow, then the water will not be suitable for drinking use, it is consumed only for technical needs or irrigation. To provide clean water, you must dig very deep. Also, the well must be cleaned twice a year, which the well does not require at all.

The well is an unreliable water supply system due to the constant threat of pollution by flood or wastewater. Owners of such structures every year are faced with the problem of changing groundwater levels.

If the well is not properly installed or excavated, there is a threat of changes in the passage of groundwater, which jeopardizes the integrity of the foundation.

Sand well

There are two types of wells: artesian and sand. And the second option is the worst solution for the normal water supply of the cottage.

Such a well has several serious drawbacks:

• Poor water quality, because sand does not filter pesticides, heavy metals and fertilizers that enter the house from the soil layer;
• Due to the low immersion of the pump, the bottom of the well is quickly covered with silt. After 20 years, it will not be suitable for use, the pump will not cope with its work. Also, a small well depth of only 30 m negatively affects this process;
• For the pump to work properly, the filters must be of the highest quality. Otherwise, the constant ingress of grains of sand will soon damage the pump, which does not lend itself to normal cleaning. If coarse-grained elements get into the device, then its operation will cease for good;
• After a few months, the pump usually fails due to high loads. The mechanism becomes clogged with various impurities, overheats and burns out;
• Sand wells need constant maintenance: cleaning and treating the pump.

To use such a system in the house must have additional powerful filters for water purification. Despite the low cost of the initial repair and correction work, much more money can be given than when equipping an artesian well.
