The main purpose of the drainage system is to divert precipitation from the windowsill, flowing down the frame and glass. If the drainage system is not installed, the window sill, the bottom of the window opening and the window frame will be saturated with moisture and destroyed.
The bulk of manufacturers produce drainages according to a single standard, therefore, for their quick installation, general rules and recommendations apply. Usually, they are installed when replacing window frames. If it is not planned to change the windows, then the drains will have to be installed additionally.

You can do the work yourself in a private house, or in an apartment on the first floor. In other cases, such an operation is best entrusted to professional installers with specialized climbing equipment.
For self-installation, it is necessary to carefully measure the length and width of the window opening. Acquired billet drainage should be wider and longer by several centimeters. Then you should clean the surface of the window sill from dirt and residues of mounting foam. Work is best done in dry weather.

From the purchased workpiece, you need to cut a piece longer than the window opening by 4-6 centimeters. The protective film should not be removed from the metal. Measuring 2-3 cm on both sides of the workpiece, two transverse lines are drawn on its horizontal surface. They should not extend beyond the fold line of the metal. Next, scissors for metal make cuts from the edge of the workpiece to the line. The sides are bent with pliers up.
Having tried the ebb in place, the position of the bent parts is adjusted, achieving their snug fit to the lateral edges of the window opening. Then a brick or concrete window sill is covered with a layer of waterproofing material. You can use stekloizol or ruberoid. If the house is sheathed with facade panels or siding, a special film is used for waterproofing.
Low tide is fixed with screws to the bar under the window frame. I fill the space between the window sill and the sump with polyurethane foam. Polyurethane foam provides reliable fastening of a drainage system and does not allow it to ring when rain drops get.

The angle of inclination of the drainage system should provide unhindered removal of water from its surface. Seams between the window frame and the drain must be sealed to prevent moisture from entering them. The lateral joints of the ebb and the window opening are sealed with building mastic. Its seam has high elasticity, which is necessary to ensure thermal expansion of materials.
