What subtleties you need to know when connecting a heated towel rail in a private house

A private house has more favorable conditions for installing a heated towel rail (hereinafter referred to as PS). The availability of autonomous water supply guarantees the purity of water. This means that it is possible to install models of dryers that are more demanding on the presence of sludge in it. The dimensions of the bathrooms in private homes are large enough, which allows the use of large-sized PS. When carrying out work on installing a heated towel rail, the owner of the house does not need to get permission from neighbors or supply organizations.

Connecting PS in a private house has certain subtleties, without knowledge of which it is impossible to ensure its full use. As a rule, such housing has an autonomous heating and hot water supply system that works seasonally. It is possible to ensure the year-round operation of the substation by connecting it to a separate closed heating circuit. This method allows you to use any PS models, including the most powerful ones, which allow heating the bathroom without radiators and underfloor heating systems.

If the PS will perform the function of a bathroom heater, its power is calculated based on the temperature of the coolant plus 60 degrees Celsius. For a heating radiator, this figure is plus 80 degrees Celsius.

Installation of a separate circuit for substation will require laying a pipeline, installing an additional pump and shutoff valves. All this significantly increases the cost of installation and operation of the substation.

If the house has an autonomous hot water system, a heated towel rail can be installed in its recirculation loop. This method is the most economical, since it does not entail unnecessary equipment costs and is suitable for year-round operation. At the same time, the choice of PS will be limited only by models suitable for this.

The model of the heated towel rail for installation in the hot water supply circuit must be made of stainless steel and is intended for use only with water.

It should be noted that due to the low power it is possible to use such a substation for heating, it is only possible in small bathrooms. In more spacious rooms you will have to install radiators or a floor heating system.

Regardless of the location of the heated towel rail in a private house, the work does not differ from the same process in the apartment. However, some rules should be observed:

  1. If the eyeliner is no longer than 50 cm, the pipe is placed horizontally. Longer pipes are laid with a slope along the entire length.
  2. With a diameter of the supply pipe of 40-50 mm, the distance between it and the wall should be at least 5 cm. Tubes with a diameter of less than 23 mm should be mounted at a distance of 3.5 cm from the wall.
  3. Due to the temperature deformation of the hot pipes, the heated towel rail should be fixed to the supports in a free way. With a rigid method of fastening the tube, PSs may burst.
