Timely cleaning of heating batteries must be carried out regardless of the type of heating used - centralized or autonomous. In both cases, water of inadequate quality is often used, it contains a large concentration of mechanical suspensions. The exception is when the closed system is filled with distilled water. In other cases, sand, small debris and rust spread throughout the heating system, which can lead to malfunctions in radiators and other important elements.

To clean the heating batteries as little as possible, it is necessary to install a multi-stage filter system.
To clean the radiator, start building with external cleaning. If the pollution is insignificant, you can do with an ordinary vacuum cleaner with a small nozzle or a hairdryer, after having fixed a wet rag to the radiator, on which all the garbage will sit. Hot water, household chemicals and special brushes for radiators will help get rid of strong pollution.

To clean the inner walls, you will have to remove the radiator and take it to the bath, having previously laid an unnecessary rag on the bottom. It is necessary to remove the plugs on the sides, pour hot water into the radiator, then drain it.
Potent remedies are suitable for descaling and various deposits. For example, alkaline compounds, caustic soda, vinegar, citric acid or whey. Also in stores you can buy ready-made complex products intended for such procedures. It is dangerous to clean aluminum batteries with caustic alkalis and acids, as this can damage the equipment.

After this is done several times, it is necessary to pour in the solution containing the cleaning agent, then close the plugs and leave the radiator for two hours. After this time, it is necessary to shake it and gently tap on the walls. The main thing is not to use a metal hammer for this, as it can damage the battery. The exception is aluminum batteries, which are not recommended to be tapped. In conclusion, it is necessary to rinse the radiator with ordinary warm water, dry it and reinstall it.
In a private house, it is not necessary to remove the radiator from the wall, it is enough to disconnect the steam outlet line, purge the system and apply water under pressure to wash the accumulated dirt.
