When acquiring a kitchen set, a person has to deal with the choice of countertops. At the same time, he considers the appearance of the product, its functionality, price and practicality as the main selection criteria. An ideal worktop should be easy to care for, hygienic and durable. At present, this can be chosen, as furniture manufacturers do not cease to please with new product options and make them from a variety of materials.

Modern countertops differ in price, shape, size, color and material of manufacture. The thickness of the classic countertops that you can buy here varies between three to four centimeters. This product is located on the cabinets of the kitchen set. The length and shape of the countertop itself is determined based on the similar parameters of the headset as a whole. The width of the product most often corresponds to the depth of the cabinets and is sixty centimeters.
Some people prefer to choose a wider countertop, as it is more convenient from a functional point of view. At the same time, the person will not cling to the fittings and the protruding elements of the pedestals with his knees, and this will not affect the appearance of the kitchen.

Currently, the most common materials for the manufacture of countertops are laminated chipboard, plastic, metal (stainless steel), plywood, solid wood and stone. The latter material can be natural or artificial.

Worktops - postforming
This technology consists in the following: a chipboard plate is lined on all sides with laminated plastic. This coating protects the chipboard from mechanical damage and moisture, so these countertops can last a very long time. Postforming technology is used in the manufacture of laminated countertops, which managed to prove themselves as one of the most affordable and popular. For this, manufacturers use special paper-laminated plastic, which is applied under high pressure. This material is used to finish the entire surface of the plate, including the front, and sometimes the trailing edge.

Chipboard is laminated according to this principle: several layers of strong paper are applied to the plate, impregnating it with resins. Then a decorative layer is applied - rolled paper. Then comes the turn of the protective coating, which is used as melamine and acrylate resins. This coating gives the countertop wear resistance, resistance to fading, moisture resistance and aesthetics, resistance to mechanical damage. The decorative layer can have any pattern. Especially often, it imitates natural materials.
