The diagonal connection of the radiator to the heating system is considered the most effective in a private house. Since, thanks to just such a connection, the natural circulation of the coolant in the radiator occurs under the influence of physical laws. The coolant is evenly distributed over the entire area of the radiator, giving off heat to the air. In order for the heating system to work without interruptions, it is necessary to qualitatively connect the radiators to it.

Defects in the diagonal connection of heating radiators
Errors when connecting batteries to the heating system at home can make not only a novice in this business. Often, masters also come across, thereby significantly reducing the energy efficiency of the entire system:
- The exact docking of the axis of the window opening with the axis of the battery did not occur;
- The distance from the radiator to the windowsill, floor, or wall is incorrectly verified.
When positioning the radiator, it must be borne in mind that its leveling affects the heat transfer:
- The absence of a window sill increases the indicators up to 20%;
- If you reduce the distance from the windowsill to the radiator by 5 cm, then the heat efficiency will decrease by 7%;
- If the battery is too close to the floor, heat transfer will also decrease by 7%.
To increase the heat transfer from the heating radiator, you can install any reflective screen to the wall behind it. For example, it can be fiberboard with a special foil. In this case, the heat transfer will increase to 20%.

What you need to know about diagonal connection
Information to be noted:
- The diagonal connection system is usually used for two-pipe wiring;
- Ideally, the supply circuit is connected to the upper nozzle, while the reverse to the lower. If there is a forced circulation of the coolant, then it is also possible to connect the other way around. But this reduces energy efficiency;
- In apartment buildings, a diagonal connection is usually not used. It is advised to use it only if it has 12 sections or more in the radiator, since with side connection the side sections will always be slightly colder than the central ones.

In the manufacture of heating radiators, the values for side connection are always taken as the standard for heat transfer. Therefore, when calculating the diagonal connection, it is necessary to use a correction factor of 1.2.
