Very often when wallpapering, it is not possible to avoid the appearance of an overlap between two canvases. How to eliminate this drawback, we will describe below.
How to eliminate overlap between canvases
Before you start fixing the problem, you need to know the reason for its occurrence. So, if the overlap was formed after the wallpaper was completely dry, then the reason is most likely that the wallpaper was overexposed before being glued to the wall and they stretched out. After the canvas has dried, it has acquired its previous size, which is why the overlap appeared.

To eliminate the defect, it is necessary to do the following manipulations:
- The edges of both canvases are abundantly moistened with water, then wait until they are slightly softened;
- A small layer of special glue is applied to the edges to fix the joints (note that the glue dries very quickly);
- The joint is carefully aligned manually, after which it is pressed tightly together and fixed using a special roller;
- Using the same roller, air bubbles are squeezed out from under the canvases, a sponge is used to remove adhesive residues.
There are times when the junction of the wallpaper diverges completely. In this case, the canvas is wetted and waiting until they begin to peel off from the surface. Next, the joints are glued and try to connect together. If this is not possible, then there is only one way out - to close the junction with a special decorating tape.

Another option to refine the joint between the wallpapers is to install a patch under the canvas that will close the wall and visually hide the flaw.
Avoiding Overlap: Some Tips
After applying glue to the canvas, you can’t hold it for too long - as soon as the wallpaper is saturated enough, they must immediately be glued to the wall. In the process, it is recommended to use the building level - with it you can set the canvas strictly vertically, which will avoid overlapping.

Especially often overlap appears in the corners. If the defect was formed due to the fact that the previous paintings were not glued unevenly, then fixing it by gluing one canvas in the corner will most likely fail, and the canvas will have to be trimmed.
If the overlap was noticed only after the wallpaper had time to dry, they need to be trimmed in the mirror direction. In the case when a joint appeared at the place of a fresh undercut, to remove it, moisten the edges of the canvas with water, squeeze a little glue under the joint, and fix the edges of the paintings in the right position.
