Creaking floors are a significant nuisance. They cause a lot of inconvenience, not to mention the fact that the sound that appears is rather unpleasant and few people like it. There can be many reasons why this happened, ranging from violations of the floor installation technology during the recent repair process to the deformation of the boards during operation.

What can be done in this case? In any case, changing the flooring will be expensive, expensive, and the time will be quite decent.
Most professionals offer to carry out restoration work, however, there is one condition: the floor must be completely intact, and the tree - without traces of rot and rotting.

You can get rid of the squeak on your own, it’s easy. There are several ways to do this:
1. Fill all slots with foam. Do not forget that this is a temporary measure, and it can only be applied to places in which there are very small voids. First you need to find the creaking place, then, after drilling several holes, squeeze the mounting foam. You need to be very careful that she does not go outside. Upon completion, this place must be sanded and painted in the color of the rest of the floor.

2. A more effective way to eliminate squeaking is to use plywood. It can also be used if there is no desire to open and re-cross the floor. Installation takes place on an old coating, which is previously thoroughly cleaned of debris, mold and dirt. It is best to remove the skirting boards and put them back in place after completion of work. Sheets of plywood are laid on old boards, starting from the door and ending with a window opening. If there are gaps, they can be covered with putty, and then carefully sanded.

3. It is best to sort through the floor to find damaged, rotten or deformed boards, lags or mounts. This is a budget option, quite effective, but requiring a certain amount of time and effort.

4. If the problem is the deformation of some boards, you can try using wooden wedges. To do this, determine from which place there was the most noise, and then wedges are driven into this space.

5. To eliminate squeaking, you can use self-tapping screws. To do this, holes are made directly through the board in the lag, and then suitable diameter screws are screwed as deep as possible.

As can be seen from the above options, the problem of creaking floors can be eliminated independently. However, you need to be prepared for the fact that this process is not easy, and you will have to spend your own time. In addition, do not forget that all these measures are temporary.
