How to protect the electrical floor heating system

The installation of an electric floor heating system is of interest to many. Some craftsmen install the system themselves, making some errors during installation, which lead to premature failure of such a floor. It is quite possible to secure the electric system of the heated floor, for this you need to know several installation rules.

Installation of electric underfloor heating cable

When installing the system, some craftsmen first lay the cable, then fill in the screed. With this installation, it is almost impossible to ensure uniform floor heating - due to the different thickness of the screed. Professionals recommend first to fill in the screed, to make grooves (gates) in it, to lay the cable in them. This ensures uniform heating of the floor surface.

When laying the cable in the strobes, many fix it with gypsum mortar. This can not be done, since the solution absorbs moisture from the tile adhesive and is destroyed. The heating element in most cases goes out of standing, which requires its complete replacement.

Filling the cable with a solution, some craftsmen leave some sections of the heating element open, this also can not be done. Be sure to cover the entire cable with a solution. Otherwise, it will heat up unevenly, as a result, it will overheat and fail.

Thermostat temperature sensor

To lay the path of the temperature sensor, a corrugated plastic tube is used. It often wrinkles and breaks, which subsequently makes the replacement of the sensor time-consuming, and sometimes impossible.

Specialists in the installation of an electric heated floor recommend using a metal-plastic pipe of the same diameter for these purposes. It is much stronger than a corrugated tube. In case of failure of the temperature sensor, this will greatly facilitate its replacement.

It is better to mount the temperature sensor not near the wall at the beginning of the installation of the electric floor, but about 60-70 cm. from the wall. This will make it possible to obtain more realistic temperature readings, and will also avoid overheating of the heating element.

If the communication of central water heating pipes passes through the room, then the place for laying the temperature sensor must be at least 1 m from these pipes. If the distance is less, according to the temperature of the electrical system during the heating season, it can be greatly overestimated and not correspond to reality. This will lead to low efficiency of the warm floor.
