- 3 If there is no power tool
Often, the long-awaited repair process stops due to the lack of a special tool. Buying it for two or three actions is unprofitable, but there is still a way out. Here we will consider ways to make a hole of any diameter in the tile with improvised means and without risk of breaking it.

We use a grinder
If you need to make a sufficiently wide hole, for example, for installing a plumbing pipe, you can use a grinder:
- To start, we mark out the marker on the back of the tile;
- We install a disk for dry cutting on a grinder;
- Be sure to drive the tool away from you. We try not to interrupt the line.

Do not forget about safety rules! Cutting is best done from the front of the tile without pressing the tool.

Cut holes with a jigsaw
Using a jigsaw you can cut a hole. Starting at the edge of the tile or in the center, if you first make an additional hole with a drill. For convenient operation, it is better to follow the following algorithm:
- Marks the future holes on the front surface of the tile;
- If the side of the hole coincides with the edge, you can start cutting immediately;
- If you want to cut in the middle - make an extra. Where will the cutting jigsaw thread go through;
- The cutout is made along the internal contour of the marking.

Before cutting, it is advisable to fix the tile with a clamp.

If there is no power tool
Not always a power tool is at hand and in this case we will come in handy: glass cutter, pliers or tongs.
- We outline the contour of the future hole;
- For easier cutting, keep the tile in warm water for 20-30 minutes;
- With a glass cutter, we make a furrow along the intended contour. Will have to make an effort, but at the same time monitor the safety of the product;
- Tap the furrow with a wooden handle of a glass cutter;
- Inside the hole, remove parts of the tile, trying to leave smooth edges.

In this case, the edge of the cut will look worse than when using a power tool, but for hidden work this method is quite suitable. The edges of the cut can be sanded.
You can also make several holes with a drill around the circumference of the cutout, then the inner piece is simply knocked out. To prevent the drill from overheating during work, periodically gently moisten it with water.
