Country toilets sometimes become sources of a very unpleasant odor. Many owners of cottages are concerned about this issue. At the same time, getting rid of such smells is quite simple if you use proven methods. To mask the stench is a bad way out, since the elimination of the causes is still more effective.

Bad odors in country toilets usually appear for one reason - ventilation does not work properly.

You need to think through the toilet ventilation system before the start of construction. It’s great if a hood is provided during the design. It is also possible to withdraw a metal or plastic pipe through the roof by integrating it into the cesspool box. From the ground, the upper edge of the pipe should be separated by about two and a half to three meters. The protruding part is painted black, the insertion site is sealed. As a hood, such a pipe will work due to the heating of the upper part by the sun.

To create a cesspool, waterproof material should be used. Its depth should be at least two meters. Natural ventilation in the toilet will also come in handy. Near the floor you can make a hole or make a kind of window in the wall. To prevent insects from entering, they must be covered with a mosquito net.

To eliminate unpleasant odors coming from the country toilet is also possible with the help of chemicals. Chemistry works at any time of the year, which is its significant advantage. The most environmentally friendly are nitrate drugs, but their cost is quite high. Nitrate oxidizing agents contain surfactants, so they additionally clean the toilet, and not just eliminate the unpleasant odor. Ammonium products are also effective and quite safe. However, they should not come into contact with soap formulations in any case. The cheapest option is bleach. However, it is very toxic and contains carcinogens, so you need to handle it as carefully as possible.

In a street toilet you can eliminate unpleasant odors with the help of folk remedies. There you can add nettles or tops of tomatoes, as they are able to absorb ammonia. After each visit, you can add mowed grass to the cesspool. You can also use ash or sawdust. They are also sprinkled with every visit. For the environment, these products are completely harmless. Spending money on them is not required. After overheating the contents, you can use compost on the beds. The smell of folk remedies is eliminated quite effectively.
