Easier to wash a surface painted with shiny paint. The paint, which creates gloss and has a smooth surface, almost does not absorb dirt. As for textured and matte paints, it’s not so simple, you need to wash them carefully, you can not use aggressive detergents and solvents.

Any color has its own degree of resistance to wet abrasion. It is necessary to pay attention to this when buying.

There are 5 classes of resistance:

1. Grade 1 - the highest resistance to moisture and wear. Surfaces painted with such paint can be washed regularly and not worry about discoloration or stains.

2. Grade 2 - in addition to interior ones, it also includes facade paints that resist moisture well. The surface can be washed regularly.
3. Grade 3 - paints are less resistant to abrasion and moisture. They are mainly used for rooms that are not too intensively operated - bedrooms, libraries, archives, etc.
4. Grade 4-5 - surfaces painted with such paints are strictly prohibited to wash. Dust from the surface can be carefully removed using a vacuum cleaner with a soft nozzle or a dry cloth.

What specific paints cannot be washed

Silicate ceiling paint is one of the cheapest. Such paint has the lowest rate of wear resistance, water is "deadly" for it, as a result of which it is impossible to wash the surface.

Mineral paint is the same whitewash based on lime or cement. It’s impractical, it wears out quickly, does not wash, but costs quite a bit - a suitable option with a limited budget.

When washing any painted surface, you need to be careful, add powder products to the water, do not use hard brushes and washcloths. A soft cloth and a weak solution of laundry soap will not damage the coating, the paint will not lose its original attractive appearance, and the room will delight you with freshness and cleanliness.

PVA-based paints are cheap, produced at domestic enterprises. Poorly resist abrasion, so they are almost never used for walls. Most often they paint ceilings. If splashes get on the surface painted with such paint, they will leave stains. From dust, the surface should only be wiped with a dry soft cloth.
