Updating the wiring in the house, many owners are responsible for choosing the type of wire, installing equipment, but often try to save on such trifles as switches and sockets. Since the outlet is, in fact, an adapter from the wiring wires to the connected equipment, you need to choose it carefully.

The cheapest outlets are usually open-type. They will not work if you plan to hide the wiring under the plaster in the wall.

As for the technical characteristics, very often inexpensive sockets are designed for low power. In fact, they heat up and with a long load, the plastic parts in it can even melt, including the plug of the included device. Therefore, installing sockets, you need to roughly decide which devices will turn on, see their power. For example, the iron has a power of 1500 W, respectively, for it you need a socket with characteristics 10 A, 250 V. Such a figure is calculated simply - it is necessary to multiply the indicators of the outlet among themselves, and the maximum allowable power will be obtained. It should always be slightly larger than the one required by the device.

Almost all modern sockets are designed for three wires, with grounding, but there are instances for two wires. It is best, of course, to purchase the first option, which will provide proper security. When buying an outlet, it is necessary to correctly calculate the level of protection of the case. It is indicated by the letters IP and two digits, the first on a scale from 0 to 6 indicates the level of protection against ingress of solid particles, the second on a scale from 0 to 8 - protection against moisture. Accordingly, the larger the number, the better the protection. For example, for kitchens and bathrooms it is better to choose sockets with IP45A protection, for other rooms IP20 is suitable. If the outlet is placed outdoors, you must purchase an outlet with IP65 protection. If you neglect these data, not only the outlet, but the entire wiring system can fail.

If you plan to use the outlet often, it is better to purchase a copy where the contacts are tightened by springs, because in ordinary cheap outlets they dissipate very quickly. Due to the weak contact of the plug and socket, the entire structure begins to heat up.

So that new outlets do not end up ruining the life of the owners, you need, firstly, not to purchase the cheapest copies, and secondly, from the options medium and high price categories, select those that are suitable for any specific technical parameters and safety level goals.
