Penopleks is a universal high-density insulation. The material is obtained by foaming polystyrene. In its internal structure, it is a bit similar to polystyrene, however, polystyrene is much stronger and more durable. Although the material is very dense, it can be cut with a knife, although, of course, it is better to do it with an electric jigsaw.

Where can I use foam?
Due to the fact that this material is strong, it is not afraid of water, low temperatures and some types of penoplex still do not burn, its scope is very wide. As a heater, it is used for floors, walls, facades, ceilings in any premises = both residential and utility. Thanks to almost zero hygroscopicity, it does not need vapor barrier.

Penoplex is environmentally friendly - it can be safely used as a heater indoors and it is not necessary to isolate it additionally - the material does not emit any harmful substances. Some types of foam are used for warming roads and even runways at airfields. This material, being in the ground, prevents it from swelling.
Leveling the floor with foam
Can this material be used to level the floor? Quite. This option of leveling the floor can be used if the work needs to be done quickly, and there is no time to wait until the screed is dry. Or just a person does not know how or does not want to work with building mixtures. In addition, you can kill two birds with one stone: level the surface under the flooring and simultaneously insulate the floor. However, the reasons for choosing penoplex may be different.

For work, you need sheets of different thicknesses, preferably at least 30 mm. The density of the material should be at least 31-35 kg / m.
The foam sheets are fixed to the base with a glue solution. In addition, they can be fixed using plastic “umbrellas”. After irregularities are minimized, the foam plate is pressed on top with sheets of plywood or OSB. Thus, an even, solid flooring will be obtained. When using plywood, it is advisable to lay it in two layers, overlapping the top sheets with seams between the bottom sheets. Two layers of plywood with overlap, twisted together form a sufficiently durable coating, which can be without problems laying laminate, parquet and even ceramic tiles, previously protecting the plywood with waterproofing material.

Thus, using this highly practical material, it is possible to level not only the floor, but also the ceiling and walls, however, the algorithm for working with walls and ceilings will be different.
