Classification of carpets by pile length
To choose a carpet, you need to determine not only its size, shape and design, but also the length of the pile. Today on sale you can find carpets with a very different pile length, the maximum of which can reach 5 cm.

According to the length of the pile, all carpets can be divided into several types:
- lint-free;
- with short hair;
- with medium pile;
- with a long pile;
- combined.

Lint-free carpets have no pile at all and look like dense canvases of interwoven threads. The pattern on such products is formed by interweaving threads of different colors, so lint-free carpets are the same on both sides. Short-pile carpets include floor coverings with a pile length of not more than 5 mm, with an average - not more than 15 mm, with a long - more than 15 mm. Special attention should be paid to carpets with combined pile lengths. Their feature is the combination of short and long pile, due to which a pattern is formed and the effect of volume is achieved.

Which carpet to choose
If you need a carpet, and you don’t know what length of pile to choose, start from the purpose of the carpet and the features of the room where it will be located. Lint-free and short-pile carpets are more practical since less dirt is eaten into them and they are easier to clean. To maintain such carpets in order, vacuum them regularly enough. Such products are ideal for hallways, premises in public institutions and children's institutions, etc. It is these carpets that are best laid out at the entrance to wipe feet on them, then dirt can then be simply to shake off.

For the interior of the house, it is better to choose carpets with a medium pile. They provide good thermal insulation and protect against noise. However, they are not as difficult to clean as long-pile carpets. This is ideal for the living room and children's room. Carpets with a long pile do not differ in practicality, therefore it is better to spread them only in those rooms where they are not threatened by serious pollution and abrasion, for example, in the bedroom. Carpets with a combined pile are also better to lay where they will not have serious loads, then the product will retain its volume and charm.
