Why is blowing from new double-glazed windows?

Often, the owners of a house hope to solve the problem of old frames by installing new plastic windows: as a rule, they blow strongly in winter. And then the long-awaited event happened - the wooden frames were replaced with plastic ones. But, much to my disappointment, the window continues to draw a draft. What is the reason for this phenomenon and what to do?

For starters, it's worth figuring out whether the draft is really the fault. For each region, you need to choose different window thicknesses, since climatic conditions differ significantly. Perhaps very thin windows were installed. In fact, there is no draft, just because the glass is too thin, it seems that it is blowing from the windows. This can be checked by bringing the lighted candle to the window and moving it around the entire perimeter of the glass. With a draft, the flame will oscillate and deviate to the side. Smooth fire indicates that the cold comes from the glass, and air circulation occurs inside the room.

Reasons for a draft of windows

Draft may occur between the sash and the frame in case of errors during installation. Specialists call the following violations:

1. Incorrect adjustment - if the installer incorrectly adjusted the window, this will always manifest itself over time. A draft seems to appear in the house from nowhere. Sometimes the reason is that the hardware has not been serviced for several years. Solving this problem is quite simple: just make the right window adjustments.
2. Unqualified installation - often the masters undertake the installation without the corresponding experience and knowledge. They make mistakes that lead to drafts. For example, a violation of the geometry of the structure leads to this when the wings are not well suited to the frame. Correcting installation errors is then difficult, therefore it is better to carefully approach the choice of installers immediately.
3. Sealing rubber - the most likely cause of a draft in the window is an old, dirty, or simply broken sealing rubber. In addition, it could initially be of poor quality. In this case, a gap is obtained between the sash and the frame; the window does not close tightly. When blowing from cracks for this reason, you just need to change the seal to a new one.
4. A plastic profile - oddly enough, the profile of a double-glazed window, if it is of poor quality, can deteriorate from changes in temperature, exposure to ultraviolet radiation. Then a draft will also blow from the gap. Repair in this case is impractical, the window is easier to completely replace.

These are the main reasons why it can blow from new plastic windows. Some of them can be eliminated easily, others require more complex actions. But it is necessary to solve the problem with a draft, because due to constant cooling in the room it will not be possible to achieve a comfortable temperature, which can lead to colds.
