Why do squeaks occur?
Squeaky lags often signal such reasons:
- The floorboard is loose. This factor is most often the cause, and the logical question arises, how to fix it? Here you can do it very simply and fix the boards as reliable as possible using nails or self-tapping screws. The last option will be better;
- The problem with the lining under the lags. They could be initially installed poorly or just loose over time;

Sometimes several factors can appear at once, in order to eliminate the cause, you must first identify the problem, in most visual inspection is enough, but sometimes it’s recommended to remove a few boards to make sure your solutions.
How to get rid of squeaks?

The problem arises because the floors are lying, most likely, more than a dozen are lying, and of course, the nails are loose during this time, and the wood has dried out. The gaps between the boards can be corrected using wooden wedges. How to carry out the operation:
- Cut a wedge of the required size from the workpiece;
- Apply glue to both the wedge and the gap. Fasten the wedges, and check the reliability, everything should be tight;
- After complete drying, the wedges can be cut flush with the floor.
If the creak is due to the fact that the wrong material was used, then the floorboards should simply be connected together.
