The facade of the house, decorated with clinker tiles, gives the building a solid appearance. And all this at a relatively low cost. Various models of clinker tiles imitating brickwork or natural stone, allow you to implement various design decisions.
For cladding facades clinker tiles or thermal panels are used. The panel is a foam sheet with a clinker tile already glued to it. Installation of such thermal panels is not particularly difficult. They can be mounted on almost any surface.
Facing the facade with clinker tiles should only be done after a surface prepared in a certain way. It is impossible to glue the tile directly on the insulation layer, it will immediately fall off.
Walls intended for decoration with clinker tiles are insulated with foam sheets. Since the tile has a significant weight, the foam should adhere well to the walls. To do this, it is glued to the walls with special cement-based adhesive mixtures and additionally fixed with fungi. It is important to prevent the adhesive from entering the joints between the foam sheets. Since the adhesive is made on the basis of cement, it has a high thermal conductivity. In winter, cold bridges may form in these places. On the facade, they will look like wet spots. That is why the seams between the sheets should be sealed with foam.
Excesses of dried foam are cut with a knife and produce rough grinding of the surface. Thus, it is prepared for applying a plaster mixture, which will be the next step in the preparation of the walls. After aligning the first plaster layer, a plastic or metal plaster grid is glued to its wet surface. If you do this directly on the foam, the effect of applying the mesh will be minimal. Joints between rows of mesh should be overlapped. The mesh is used to securely fix the plaster layers and prevent them from cracking. Although there is an opinion that you can do without a mesh, since the adhesive compositions hold well on the surface of the foam. However, such a judgment is deeply erroneous.
After applying the second layer of plaster, it is dried. All recesses are leveled with the same stucco mixture and rubbed to a flat surface. It is important to perfectly level the plaster coat. Otherwise, laying tiles may cause problems. After complete drying, the plastered wall is covered with a waterproofing composition. If this is not done, water that has soaked into the stucco layer may break the tile off the wall. Only on a layer of insulation prepared in this way can clinker tiles be installed.
