Facade cladding is not only a presentable appearance and external attractiveness of the building, because the facades houses photos of two-story houses that are presented below require a special careful approach to the selection materials. A lot depends on the climatic conditions and individual characteristics of the building, however, there are certain technical characteristics that every building material must meet.
The need for facade decoration
The main functions of the finishing material for the facade are:
- protection against aggressive environment. Sudden changes in temperature contribute to the rapid destruction of the internal walls, thanks to additional finishing, the building's service life is significantly extended;
- increased sound and sound insulation - modern building materials can increase the degree of sound insulation. This helps to protect the residents of the house from third-party harsh sounds, contributes to an excellent rest;
- a well-equipped thermal protection is able to retain heat in the winter, and on a hot summer day it will provide the most comfortable indoor temperature;
- reliable finish allows you to protect the walls of the house from small pests and insects, not allowing them to penetrate inside the house;
- building materials have special fire safety. They are used for cladding wooden structures.

Materials for decorating the facade of a two-story house
Modern technologies make it possible to decorate the facades of two-story houses in various ways. Finishing work differs not only in the methodology of building processes, but also in the quality of the material. What are the most common facades of houses? Photos of two-story houses are presented below.
Plaster
Facing with stucco is considered the most popular and democratic way of finishing. However, decorative plaster involves a more thorough preparation of the external walls. For decoration, these types of plaster are used:
- acrylic - the material is made from high molecular weight polymers. It has special elasticity, moisture resistance, excellent resistance to various deformations. Over time, under the influence of ultraviolet light, the finish may lose its original color;
- mineral - polycement plaster is made on the basis of cement, before use it should be diluted to the desired consistency. The mixture is particularly resistant to abrasion, but despite this, cracks form on the surface as a result of mechanical stresses;
- silicate - the basis of the building mixture is potash glass. Plaster has excellent vapor permeability, water resistance. The disadvantages include a limited color palette, the high cost of the material;
- silicone - silicate resins are part of the solution. The material is easily applied to any surface and forms a reliable bond with the base. Plaster is quite elastic, waterproof, needs preliminary primer of surfaces.

Front panels
There are the following panels for decorating buildings with two floors:
- metal - differ in high-quality protection against metal corrosion and a spectacular shiny surface. Aluminum panels are relatively lightweight, and durable galvanized materials withstand extreme temperature changes;
- polymer materials - the most common option for finishing private buildings today. Finishing material is created from polyvinyl chloride with a small addition of various dyes and stabilizers. The panels are practical and fireproof. During a sharp drop in temperature, they may crack;
- wood fiber - decorative panels are covered with a special layer that imitates the texture of natural wood and have excellent thermal insulation. Durable finishing material is easy to attach to the surface, but it also absorbs moisture and is flammable.

Natural or artificial stone
Natural stone is the highest quality and most expensive cladding of buildings with two floors. It should be noted that natural stone has a rather heavy weight of the entire structure, so it is not recommended to use it for decorating buildings with a weak foundation. Marble, limestone, granite are more suitable for decorating facades.
Artificial stones are new to the construction market. Decorative material contains less weight, relatively low cost and has a wide color palette that allows you to simulate various textures of natural material. Compared to natural stone, the artificial analogue has a shorter service life, however, after finishing the building acquires a luxurious and presentable appearance.

Dyeing
In order for the decorated facade of the house to serve for more than a dozen years, it is necessary to regularly carry out its prevention and updating. Facade painting is one of the most practical ways to keep the finish in perfect condition.
All the technology for painting facades involves the use of special facade paint, which must meet certain qualitative characteristics:
- resist mechanical external influences and aggressive environmental influences;
- perfectly tolerate a sharp change in climatic conditions;
- Do not lose their original color under the influence of ultraviolet rays.
Water-dispersion paint is used to finish wooden surfaces. Concrete walls are covered with water-based acrylic paint. The brick facade is painted with special acrylic-based latex paint.
Brickwork
The brick is quite versatile and has been used for a long time to decorate the exterior walls of not only private households, but also commercial facilities.
It has a certain number of advantages:
- gives the facade of the building clear lines, beautiful shape;
- porous material allows water to pass through;
- weakly responds to exposure to bright sunlight, retains its original appearance for a long time;
- environmentally friendly, safe;
- has a long service life;
- if necessary, damaged areas can be easily restored;
- allows you to implement the most unusual, original architectural solutions.

Siding
Modern material is gaining more and more popularity every year. The main advantages of finishing two-story buildings with siding are low price, excellent quality.
Today there are several types of siding:
- metal - it is made of aluminum or steel. The material contains a large margin of safety, relative immunity to sudden changes in temperature. As a result of damage to the protective coating, corrosion processes can begin;
- vinyl - PVC panels are resistant to mechanical stress, tolerate difficult climatic conditions. However, during installation, the coefficient of linear expansion of the material should be taken into account, otherwise the finish may be deformed;
- wooden - decorative panels are created from well-dried wood treated with a special antiseptic. Natural material perfectly retains heat, environmentally friendly. The disadvantage of the material is a short service life, high cost;
- cement - siding perfectly replaces the finishing stone, practically not subject to external influences. At the same time, the material weighs a lot, which can lead to the weighting of the entire structure.

Style Features
The style of the two-story house emphasizes not only the artistic taste, but also the status of the owner. In order to create a house facade that is ideal in style and execution, it is necessary to take into account some features of the area and familiarize yourself with architectural solutions common in the area.
The most famous styles at the moment are:
- classical;
- baroque;
- Art Nouveau;
- minimalism.
Each style has its own positive features and disadvantages.
You should not chase a constantly changing fashion. The opinion of decorators on the choice of style is really very valuable, but still the last word should remain with the owner of the house.
