Many believe that the floor is a boring surface that does not provide suitable places for the implementation of creative ideas. But if you use glass floors, the situation in this regard will be absolutely the opposite. A person who at least once in his life saw such a design element, fully felt all that emanates from such designs.

The characteristic features of glass floors
Glass floors have only recently been used exclusively in public buildings and restaurants. Such a low popularity of designs was due primarily to their high cost. But thanks to scientific and technological progress, glass floors have also become available for owners of country houses and city apartments.

Currently, there are several options for arranging glass floors. For example, you can make a so-called window, which involves the creation of glass only some part of the floor. Such an insert may have a different shape, for example, square, round, rectangular or strip-like (track). But before choosing this option for a glass floor, you should correctly evaluate its positive and negative sides.

For the manufacture of glass floors, a material such as triplex is usually used. It is a structure that consists of several layers of glass and a special film located between them. The latter serves for the mutual fastening of glasses.

Triplex layers may have a different number of layers, each of which may have a different thickness. As the inner layer can be any glass, for example, mirror, tinted or even broken. Glass sheets are installed using metal structures.

Advantages and disadvantages
The main advantages of glass floors are a high degree of wear resistance, moisture resistance, hygiene, ability to withstand chemical influences, the possibility of being used as an additional light source and the ability to visually expand the available space. However, there are certain disadvantages, which, fortunately, are quite easily eliminated.
The slippery surface of the glass can be sandblasted, which will make it roughened. You can eliminate the tendency to scuffs and scratches if you use tempered glass to make the floor.

Glass floors look best in large and tall rooms. Given this, such designs are not very appropriate in small and low rooms, but you can still use them in such spaces.
