High beds are gaining popularity due to their practicality and originality. So it’s easier to take care of the plantings, they become difficult to access for pests, and the harvesting time increases due to better heating of the soil. Also, these small structures help zoning the space and conceal elevation differences on the site.

Such designs can be of the most various forms from various kinds of materials: wood, vines, plastic, natural stone, clinker. Choosing the right option should be based on the style of the infield and the life of the beds. Clinker or stone structures on the foundation will be more durable. But the tree, even if treated with protective equipment, will last a little less.

Inside, wooden beds for better moisture insulation are sheathed with a thick film. A fine-mesh mesh is laid at the bottom, and then filled with an organic substrate:
- layer - coarsely fragmented branches and leaves;
- layer - hay, straw, vegetable waste, turf, ground leaves;
- layer - immature compost or rotted manure;
- layer - garden soil or mature compost.
Thus, humus is formed, and plants receive all the nutrients for 5 to 7 years. But every year in the spring it is worth adding compost, since during the decomposition the amount of organic matter decreases.

For collecting, you can use the developed models of beds. And you can show imagination and create original designs:
- from the rods of willow or hazel will come out a good wattle fence, which not only frames the plantings, but also helps to revet the base of a nondescript material;
- the arches fixed by the foundation will allow you to build a greenhouse at the right time - for this it will be enough just to pull the film;
- from old boards you will get a high garden bed, which can be used both in the garden and on the balcony, and attach small wheels for mobility.

On the beds outside you can hang garden tools or a flower pot with flowers: cloves, violets, ampoule petunia.

Not only vegetables are planted in the raised structures, but also spicy herbs and flower crops. Surrounded by stone or brick walls that quickly accumulate and retain heat for a long time, Mediterranean southern species grow well - rosemary, steppe sage, thyme.

In the raised flower bed, laid out by means of dry masonry, cushion-like and creeping plants are planted - alyssum, buddy ivy, periwinkle small, houttuiny hearty, awl-shaped phlox. The gaps between the stones are filled with unpretentious species, for example, juveniles and saxifrages.

Benches are often built into a high construction. It turns out to be a great place to relax surrounded by decorative deciduous perennials, such as geyhera, woodruff, lavender, large leaf brunner, hosta, oregano, cuff, lemon balm.

On the porch of the house or terrace, you can arrange mini-compositions: plant sage, dill in ceramic pots, parsley, chives and other herbs, as well as flowering summer plants - begonia, matiolla, daisies, forget-me-nots.
