Many people, when they begin to make repairs in the bathroom, have difficulty removing old tiles from the base. To do this without damaging it is not easy. But if you take into account some of the nuances, then you can carefully remove the tile from the cement base.
The rules for removing the old tile will directly depend on how it was laid. If a cement mixture was used for adhesion, the work will be complicated. To dismantle the tiles, a chisel and a hammer are required.
Preparatory stage
During installation, dust and debris will appear in the bathroom. In order not to suffer plumbing and other objects, they need to be protected: spread polyethylene on the floor the film, and the bathtub, toilet bowl and sink should be wrapped with soft materials - old rags or towels. The person who will do all the work must have protective clothing, gloves, a mask and shoes.

The process of removing tiles from the wall
First you need to find a weak spot on the wall on the right side in the topmost tile. To find out, tap the surface of the tile with a hammer. After the voids are detected, it is necessary, using a chisel and a hammer, to break off a piece of tile.
Attention! Professionals advise first to tap the entire surface of the wall and from places where there are voids, remove the tile at the very beginning. Otherwise, in the course of further work, the tile may collapse immediately in whole pieces.

If no voids are found on the wall, then you need to select one tile and cut it diagonally, then remove it from the wall with a chisel and hammer. After the first tile is removed, it will become easier to work.
Next, you need to moisten the sponge in warm water and process with it all the seams on the wall. After the grout paste is wet, it is removed. The dismantling of tiles must begin from the very top, gradually moving down.

Place the chisel in the seam between the upper and the next one next to it so that it is possible to pry off the upper tile. First, in the wall, you need to make a small recess in the center of the end of the tile, and then left and right. After the chisel is installed in the middle and, picking up the tile, remove it from the wall. The first time this may not work, especially if there is no experience. Therefore, to facilitate the process, you can hit the chisel with a hammer several times. So that the tile does not crack during the dismantling process, you can previously protect its edges with molar tape.
