Methods for laying laminate on an uneven base

Laminate flooring, rather whimsical and demanding flooring in terms of flatness of the base. Rough flooring should not have any defects and differences. This can greatly affect the quality of the coating. In the future, this leads to the occurrence of mobility, punching and breakage of some structural elements, and, accordingly, reduces the life of the material. We will consider several ways to correct visible defects of the base, for high-quality laying of laminated flooring.

Method number 1: Leveling substrate

It is worth noting immediately that the use of fake materials is used with a slight difference in height. Approximately 2 mm per linear meter. In other situations, the application of this method will be ineffective.

Types of fake materials:

• Wood fiber boards;
• Natural cork material with various components;
• Polyethylene foam;
• Polyurethane;
• Extruded polystyrene foam;
• Expanded polystyrene;

In principle, all materials are similar in effectiveness. There are some qualitative differences. The choice depends entirely on your preferences and financial capabilities.

Method number 2: Leveling the base due to concrete screed

The most effective way to level the surface with significant differences in height and defects. Properly executed concrete screed allows you to create a perfectly smooth base under the laminate. But if the work was performed with insufficient quality, and on the basis there are still minor defects, in order not to use false materials, it is possible to level out using a liquid floor material. So you definitely get a perfectly flat base for flooring.

Method number 3: Leveling due to the installation of wooden floors

The principle of leveling the base is exactly the same as that of the floor screed. It is not necessary to lay a full-fledged wooden floor on the installed logs, it is enough to use chipboards.

It is important to note that the prepared base must be completely treated with a primer and coated with special finishing materials for wooden surfaces. Seams of a rough floor need to be puttied. In addition, the floor should be treated with special impregnations that protect the base from dampness and the appearance of fungus.
