How to safely drill a hole in a plastic window

Today, PVC windows are installed almost everywhere, since they have a lot of advantages and strengths. But sooner or later, a person needs to drill a hole in the profile. This raises a lot of doubts whether this should be done at all, or whether it is better to do the work differently. How to do everything competently and safely.

It should be immediately understood that if there are no skills with the tool and special knowledge in this area, it is not recommended that everyone do it yourself, it is best to trust a specialist, as otherwise you can cause irreparable harm designs.

What are the reasons for drilling a window profile?

1. Most often, you need to attach a slope to the window, and besides drilling, there is simply no way out.
2. After installation, the seams are removed, and you need to hide them with special elements.
3. You need to hold an Internet cable or TV.
4. Installation of blinds.
5. Installation of LED strip and so on.

Of course, there are situations where you can do without drilling a window, but what about if you can’t do otherwise?

 First of all, you must be extremely careful not to violate the stiffness of the window structure and not to deteriorate the thermal insulation properties. Everything needs to be provided, for example, the fastener should not interfere with the opening of the sash; during drilling it is important not to catch the double-glazed window.

To convince that the double-glazed window remains intact and the glazing bead lock is not damaged, it is better to indent 2 centimeters from the glazing bead. For work it is necessary to use exclusively a drill for metal. The diameter must be selected so that the TV or Internet cable runs as tightly as possible, then there is no need to use sealant.

The most vulnerable places are double-glazed windows and glazing bead fasteners, so make holes around the perimeter the window fastening, i.e. on the glazing bead, is by no means impossible, otherwise one of the main elements.

As mentioned above, it is best to retreat a couple of centimeters from this place, in which case there will be no problems and consequences. As for the movable structures, it is also impossible to make holes here.

In general, if you are extremely careful and correctly determine the location of the drilling, then no problems will arise, the integrity of the window and its rigidity, as well as the integrity of the glass will not be violated.
