Grinder device: the main elements of angle grinder, principle of operation

Almost every man on the farm has a grinder. It is a very common, versatile and highly demanded tool. During work, he experiences serious stress, and they often use it. All this leads to the fact that sometimes she begins to behave in a strange way. At the start there are jerks, it smells like burning and other manifestations of abnormal work appear. All this makes one think that the device is faulty. But it is too early to despair and acquire a new one. Many failures can be eliminated on our own. The main thing is to know what and how is arranged in this device.

Grinder device, its main parts

Like any power tool, the grinder includes several elements. These are the body, motor, gearbox, coupling and others. Let's consider the main ones.

Frame

It is made of durable plastic. Consists of two parts that are bolted together. Holes are made in the housing to cool the engine.

Engine

It includes the following components:

1. Stator. It is represented by two-pole coils with a copper winding. A strictly defined number of turns of copper wire is applied to them. It is indicated in the technical documentation for the product.
2. Rotor. Located in the stator. Attached with bearings. The first bearing is located inside the gearbox housing, and the second is mounted on a plastic housing and is located near the manifold. The rotor is made of a special electrotechnical metal. It has slots in which the winding wires are located. The speed of revolutions directly depends on the number of slots and the pitch of the winding.
3. Electric brushes. Thanks to them, electrical energy goes through the cable to the collector. If they function properly, then their even glow is visible through the ventilation holes. Otherwise, it becomes intermittent or not visible at all.

Reducer

The body for this element is made of a strong aluminum alloy, it has good thermal conductivity. The rest of the elements are fixed on it. It has a hole for the second handle to make it easier to use the grinder.

Electric energy flows from the anchor, which is in rotation, to the edging circle through the editor. How many revolutions the cutting disc will make depends on the gearbox.

It consists of the following elements:

1. A pair of bearings are installed on the axle, thanks to which the driven planetary gear rotates.
2. There is a thread on one side of the shaft, onto which a nut is screwed to hold the cutting disc.
3. A gear is installed on the anchor axle, which plays a leading role for the bevel.

Other elements

These include:

1. Release clutch. Thanks to this device, kickbacks are prevented if the cut-off wheel sticks. It looks like two discs, which are pressed very tightly to each other. This does not allow the rotor shaft to stop abruptly during rotation.
2. Spindle speed controller. This device is optional and is not installed on every model.
3. Engine start and soft start switch. Thanks to this button, after activating the tool, the stroke increases not immediately, but gradually. This reduces the load on the engine and also reduces the likelihood of injury.
4. SJS system. Designed to protect the motor from overload. The latter are natural in cases where the cutting disc gets bogged down in the material. But such a system is not installed in every grinder.
5. Cut-off wheel quick change button. Locks the gear wheel when the lock nut is being loosened.
6. Nut that secures the circle. To clamp the disc, you must use a special wrench.

Principle of operation

No matter how different outwardly the grinders are, they act on the same principle.

As soon as the start button is pressed, an electric current is supplied to the motor and the rotor starts to move. From it, the rotation goes to the rotor shaft gear. The latter, through the large gear wheel of the reducer, turns the axis by ninety degrees. The gear wheel of the reducer is fixed inside its housing. It is thanks to this that the gear, rotating, drives the cutting disc.
