Eclectic living room: design features

Eclectic design is selection of people who are dynamic, creative and sensitive to fashion trends. After all, the living room is a place in the house, where not only all the household gathers for evening gatherings and relaxation. In the large hall, we receive guests, have parties and meet with friends.

Eclecticism is a mixture of several stylistic directions that harmoniously complement each other and create a single composition.

Today I will tell you how to correctly design an eclectic living room.

An opportunity to create an unusual design, a combination of at first glance incompatible elements. Eclecticism as an independent style appeared not so long ago, but it already has a number of features:

• a combination of more than 2-3 styles is not encouraged;

The main criterion for the competent design of the living room in the eclectic style is the invisible presence of luxury. It can be carved pieces of furniture covered with gilding or original fittings. Textile elements are often accentuated: curtains, curtains, carpets or pillows on the sofa.

I advise you not to get carried away with bright colors. Eclecticism is a kind of rebellion, but it assumes only natural, natural shades, without big bright splashes.

Coloristics

Pure natural tones are characteristic of this trend. Anything is used here, but not dull shades. I suggest the following palette for the living room:

• cream;
• beige;
• rich gray;
• White;
• Ivory.

3. Simple one- or two-level ceiling, stretch or plasterboard.

Doorways are decorated with canvases with decorative elements in a vintage style. Artificial aging is often used. Handles and hinges with gilding, inserts in the form of triangles and zigzags are allowed.

Furniture

The best choice would be a clever mix of retro furniture and modern elements. For example, a futuristic recessed armchair it is effectively combined with a sofa, as if created in the USSR. These were in every Soviet apartment.

The central place in the living room is occupied by a sofa. It should be large and functional. I suggest paying attention to quilted models covered with bright velvet or stylish trestle beds with legs. They are placed in the central part of the room, with a small table on carved legs in the center.

Lighting

Most living rooms use a central light in the form of a tiered crystal chandelier. Multiple pendants effectively diffuse glare throughout the room, making the interior as attractive as possible.

For additional lighting apply:

• Spotlights;
• floor lamps;
• sconce;
• desk lamp;
• candles in ornate candelabra.

The main thing is that all bright accents and important elements of the decor are highlighted with the help of light.

Decoration and fashion accessories

"Crazy" style itself practically does not need additional decoration. Nevertheless, textile items are used in the living room. For example, bright pillows on a sofa or stylish curtains. They complement the room with coziness and complete the interior.

Among the decor in the living rooms, you can also notice stucco on the ceiling, paintings and fashionable posters on the walls, books or unusual vases.

Eclecticism is good because it makes it possible to create combinations of expensive and budget elements without losing the quality of the design.

Textile

Curtains play an important role in this direction. They are always unusual. Thick curtains with tie-backs or thin curtains with romantic ruffles. In the living room, carpets and small paths are often used. Oriental and geometric patterns are welcome, as well as ethnic motifs or floral designs.
