Necessary materials
It is not difficult to construct a rotating device with your own hands. It takes a minimal set of tools, savvy and a little time, coupled with diligence. For work you need:
- round board;
- stain, varnish or paint;
- screws and other types of fasteners;
- drill;
- Sander;
- sandpaper;
- a hammer;
- ruler;
- pencil;
- screwdriver;
- brush.
As a rotary mechanism, you can use a special rotating block or, for example, a spinner.
Step-by-step instruction
The sequence of work directly depends on the result that a person wants to get. If there is a simple stand without decorative elements, we perform the following manipulations.
- Preparing the base. For this we take a tray. You can disassemble an old wooden chair by taking its seat for the main part of the future device.
- Stripping. Remove the top layer of wood using a grinder. We completely process the workpiece from all sides.
- Coating with paint. Next, we use a suitable composition to transform the base. Apply with a brush in several layers. At the same stage, decorative inscriptions or drawings are made.
- Bottom markup. Using a ruler and a pencil, measure out the center of the structure and mark where the pivot mechanism will be placed.
- Secure the rotating element exactly in the middle of the structure so that the tray does not fall over during use.
- Installing the overlay. A circle made of corkboard will do.
At this point, the device is ready. You can also attach potholders, but this is not required.

If you don't have a turning mechanism at hand, and you absolutely don't want to go to the store for it, you can use items that are not related to repair. One of the options will be a spinner popular with teenagers. By fixing the newfangled gadget on the center of the tray from the bottom, you will get the desired result.
A difficult but entertaining option is using large beads. Using liquid silicone or glue, mark the stops on the bottom of the tray. Then beads are placed there and covered with an overlay. The rotation will take place due to the movement of large beads.
