General requirements for sharpening

Attention! Before you start sharpening, you need to inspect the teeth of the hacksaw. If their color is darker than that of the rest of the canvas, then they are hardened. You cannot sharpen a tool with such teeth.

As soon as the sharpening process is completed, you need to take a piece of wood and check the quality of processing on it. The saw teeth should be carefully inspected. In a well-sharpened tool, the incisors should not shine.

To prevent the hacksaw from wedging while cutting wood, its incisors must be diluted. Then it will go smoothly and effortlessly. If the saw has been used for a long time, it will most likely need to be wired before sharpening.

The more the teeth are bent, the easier it will be for the hacksaw to move during operation. And it will get stuck much less often. However, you should have a sense of proportion and do without fanaticism. You can bend the teeth so that you will not be able to cut.

Important. There is a standard according to which the teeth are set: the value of this parameter should not be more than two millimeters. If the hacksaw will be used on dry wood, then it should be diluted by 0.3-0.5 mm. If on a damp tree - by 0.5-1 mm.

How to determine if sharpening is needed

Experienced craftsmen always know when this moment comes. Usually this can be suggested by a sound that changes its tone. And the edge of the teeth becomes a different color. A well-sharpened saw has teeth whose sharp edges are equally worn.

Signs that it's time to sharpen the hacksaw:

• she saws hard and unevenly;
• the edges of the cut are uneven;
• constantly leaves the line.
