Today we are making a heart-topiary from threads. I named my craft "Cooking with love" as it is intended as a gift to my mother, who spends a lot of time in the kitchen and loves to cook. Therefore, I decided to make this topiary so that she would decorate her favorite kitchen. But nothing prevents you from making such a thematic craft for Valentine's Day - a bright and memorable heart, I am sure, will decorate any holiday.
You will need:
- Scissors;
- Glue gun;
- Paper and cardboard;
- Threads;
- Decor elements;
- Plastic cup or vase;
- Pebbles.
- We start by drawing a heart on paper. You can fold the paper in half so that the heart is even. Alternatively, you can draw it by hand to create some kind of original shape. After you have drawn your heart on paper and cut out the template, be sure to transfer it to very thick cardboard. Since we will wrap our cardboard with threads, it should not bend and break.
- We start wrapping the base of the heart with threads. I have prepared two types of threads: the first thread will create volume, and the second will serve for the second layer.
- We wrap it gently with threads until the heart is dense enough.
- We make the second layer with red threads.
- The heart can be made in any color: pink, crimson, but I wanted my heart to be a classic red. I wrapped it in red thread and I wanted to give it some more shade. For this, I used a contrasting golden thin thread.
- For the decor, I will use satin ribbon flowers, red buttons and a red and gold ribbon.
- I attach all this with hot glue to my heart.
- It remains only to install it in a pot or vase. We make a trunk out of wire and also wrap it with threads.
- We decorate with ribbons as desired.
- I didn't have a pot or some kind of vase, and I used a red plastic cup. I do not plan to glue the craft to the bottom so that the heart can be attached to the wall at will, so I use pebbles as a material that will hold the craft in a glass.
- We put them in a glass.
- Thus, my heart will hold and not fall. And if you want, you can pin it to the wall. And these will be different variations to decorate your interior. Cook with love!
