Gas hob: which is better and why, a review of firms

click fraud protection

The gas hob is an improved and modern modification of the well-known stove for cooking. This option, in comparison with an electric stove, is considered the most economical in the presence of a main pipeline.

Panel types:

  • Dependent, along with an oven. In this case, the hob is positioned strictly in the oven.
  • Independent stand-alone device.

The kit always costs less than two units. But with the help of a separate surface, you can independently place the cooking zones, adapt them to your needs, or change the design of the kitchen.

What to look for

  1. The best option would be when the built-in gas hob belongs to the same brand as the oven. In this regard, be sure to consult a specialist, since even one company does not have all the sets coordinated with each other. Manufacturers always have a list of compatible models.
  2. It is beneficial to buy a combined surface (gas-electricity) if you have gas interruptions. You can cook on the electric side, for example, while there is a feed-in tariff, and then switch to gas. And vice versa - in Moscow outside the city it often breaks wires, and then one cannot do without a gas oven.

  3. Enamelled gas panels are the most versatile. Their color scheme is varied and they will suit any interior. White looks good with wood countertops and light-colored furnishings. In high-tech style, black stainless steel or light glass will be appropriate.

dimensions

The thickness of a modern hob is 4-5 cm, less often it reaches 10 cm. But in any case, the installation must be placed in a special hole in the table top. The insert is easy to carry out independently, based on the passport data of the furnace.

In shape, built-in gas panels for the kitchen are of three types:

  1. Traditional rectangular. The standard width of the hob is 50-60 cm. The largest, for 5-6 burners, reach up to a meter.
  2. Corner (a stove installed in the corner of the countertop), an excellent solution for a small kitchen.
  3. Domino - narrow hob (two-burner), part of the system. You can connect another such panel, deep fryer or grill to them using special jumpers. They are half the size of the standard ones and their width is 25-30 cm.

4-burner hob

Location of control knobs

Controls can be on several sides:

  1. Lateral, to the side of the burners (on the right they are much more common).
  2. Frontal, directly in front of the user. The most common type of management. Sometimes the frontal ones are shifted slightly to the side.

Make sure that the handles are not too close to the heating zone, as this will negatively affect their appearance.

Panel material

There are 4 main modifications of gas hobs on the modern market. The price of the product depends on the material.

  1. Steel enamel, the most inexpensive option. Most often these are not the most functional models of the latest generation. But on the other hand, you will always be able to find a specimen that matches the color and match it to the kitchen set.

Enamel also has disadvantages. Dirt and stains are visible on it. The coating is chipped and abraded from constant cleaning, and careless handling will surely leave scratches. But almost every manufacturer has enameled surfaces in the assortment.

  1. The stainless steel panel will appeal primarily to those who like easy maintenance and modern technology. The surfaces can be either matte or polished. Matte stains and fingerprints will be less visible.

Stainless steel is not afraid of shocks and high temperatures. But for cleaning you need special means.

  1. Glass ceramics is the most modern material, but quite expensive. They are very beautiful, easy to clean and fit into any kitchen style. The surfaces are heat-resistant and very hard to damage.

Drops of fat on it are practically invisible. Some glass ceramic hobs come with oval hobs and an extended heating area.

  1. The competitor of glass ceramics is a tempered glass panel, "gas on glass". Visually, they are almost indistinguishable, but the cost of glass is lower. Safety glass and tempered glass are combined into a durable and high-tech surface that is heat-resistant and impact-resistant. When buying, pay attention that the grill has rubber tips that do not scratch the surface.

Lattice

Lattices are of two types:

  1. Steel, coated with enamel. Steel is not afraid of falls, as it is flexible. They are lightweight and easy to clean. They are cheaper than cast iron, but over time they burn out, crack and acquire an unaesthetic appearance.
  2. Cast iron, almost eternal. They can support the weight of any pot. In such a lattice, the black color will remain unchanged for a very long time. There are no welded joints. But they must not be dropped. And porous material is less easy to clean than enamelled steel.

Hotplates

For the average family, a standard 4 COMFORT oven is sufficient for cooking. More cooking zones are intended for professional catering establishments.

Quite a lot depends on the quality of the burners and nozzles.

The burners are divided into the following types:

  1. Turbo, ultra-fast, double or triple crown. This is the know-how of the latest generation of panel gas stoves, which speeds up cooking several times. This is especially true for large pots.
  2. Standard.
  3. The smallest, for making coffee or sauces.
  4. Highly specialized, such as a grill zone (allows you to cook food without fat) or WOK (with a strong rounded bottom).

There are options for expandable burners, when a small circle (thanks to additional rings) turns into an oval. Such a burner is useful for a rooster or a large saucepan.

Switch types

The self-contained built-in gas panels are operated either mechanically with rotary levers (standard) or by touch buttons (latest generation models).

The main ones are:

  • a switch that blocks the gas supply to all burners with one press;
  • rotary switches for electric ignition and flame height control.

Additional functions

Almost all modern gas built-in hobs have these common features:

  1. Electric ignition (piezo ignition). Requires connection to the electrical network, but matches will not be needed.
  • Auto. A spark automatically appears when the switch is turned.
  • Mechanical. A separate button must be pressed together with the hotplate.
  1. Gas control function. It is very important for safety that the gas supply is cut off if for some reason the flame is extinguished. The control sensor works from 1 to 5 seconds, so when buying, you should pay attention to this indicator.

Which company to buy?

BEKO

This is a budget Turkish brand, the price of hobs for which starts at $ 5,000. rubles. But the company is trying to keep up with the times. They have a large selection of panels in all kinds of colors (including anthracite and beige).

BEKO produces 3 types of surfaces:

  • tempered glass (HISW 64222 SW);
  • stainless steel (HDCG32220FX);
  • traditional enameled (HIMG 64223 W), which are the most.

Models with a small grille are interesting (HISG 64120). They are very convenient because you have to clean a small enamelled surface, and not the entire area of the grates. Also available with split cast iron grates (HILW64225S).

But the number of burners is varied. You can choose models from 2 to 5 burners (except 3).

There is also a combined surface, a symbiosis of electricity and gas (Beko HILM 64120 S).

Gas hob BEKO

Bosch

The oldest company on our list, which offers all 4 types of surfaces. Collected in Spain and Turkey. They practically do not have classic white enameled surfaces, but there are many black ones.

The speed of cooking has been prioritized here thanks to the powerful burners. Almost every model has a "double crown". The number of burners is from 1 to 5 (with 3 no).

Bosch are also known for their hotplate grills that cannot be confused with any others. Additional support elements fulfill their main function and look rather unusual (Bosch PCH6A5B90).

There are modern models with small grates just above the burner zone (POH6C6B11O).

Gas hob Bosch

GEFEST

A Belarusian brand whose hob design differs from all others:

  • Highlighted area of handles (СГ СН 1210 К5);
  • Cast iron grates only. In addition to the classic rectangular options, there are original oblique ones (СГ СН 1211 K6).

There are 3 types of panels (without glass ceramics). The number of heating zones is from 2 to 5, and in almost every oven there is a high-power burner.

3-COMFORTABLE surfaces (СГ СН 2120) look very original. Such a model does not imply the largest burner, but it will definitely not be left without attention and will become the main focus in the kitchen.

The manufacturer offers burners, decorated not only with a classic square, but also in the form of a rhombus (CH 2340 K12).

Gas hob GEFEST

Gorenje

Almost all products (95%) of this Slovenian company are exported, and they started with the production of solid fuel stoves. These are classic 4-burner hob surfaces.

Basic coatings:

  • stainless steel,
  • glass ceramics
  • enameled steel. Black enamel looks much more impressive than white and sometimes it is indistinguishable from a matte stainless surface.

Almost all models have energy class A - the lowest. Although almost every model has electric ignition of the burners, this function is not available in ovens.

There are combined gas surfaces, but with an electric oven inside (models K67 CLI and K57 CLB).

Lack of cookers Combustion - blocking of the surface from children is absent in almost all models (only for EC 613 E02WKT). And there are very few stoves with automatic safety shutdown.

Gas control is available for 2/3 of the presented models.

Gorenje hob

Siemens

German quality and great design are the main advantages of this brand. The range includes both classic budget models (EB6B5PB80) made of stainless steel, and expensive glass-ceramic (ER 3A6 BD 70). But you will not find enameled surfaces from Siemens.

Tempered glass models (EP 718QB21E) with a contrasting zone are available. Such plates look very original and are the highlight of this brand.

Many models with double crown (ER 926 SB 70 E). The arrangement of the burners is square and diamond-shaped.

At Siemens you will find any number of cooking zones: from 1 to 6 (model EC 945TB91E). Moreover, the size of the latter is the same as that of the standard 5-burner model (92 cm by 52 cm).
