An old apartment in Khrushchev has long been in need of major repairs. We had very little time to arrange the kitchen, only a month and a half. And at first glance it seemed that it would not be possible to arrange something really worthwhile on this square. But the eyes are afraid, but the hands are doing. We didn't have a choice anyway.

It takes at least two months to make a kitchen set, so initially we decided on the furniture and ordered a project. While the builders took up the renovation of the premises, we were deciding what we wanted to get.
It is quite difficult to unfold on six squares, we definitely wanted to abandon massive wall cabinets, which would make an already small room even cramped and heavy. A must for our family is the presence of a dishwasher.
The dining table, in my opinion, is absolutely unnecessary, but I wanted to leave a place for the slate board. Very handy when there is a shared family messenger available. This is our dream.
When arranging the kitchen, they immediately refused to combine the premises with the living room. Firstly, this is an extra waste of time and money, which we were not ready to go for. Secondly, we needed isolated spaces, while at the same time we wanted a comfortable, functional, practical and uncluttered space.
To realize our desires, we needed the help of a specialist. We perfectly understood what we wanted to get as a result, but we did not know how to implement it in practice. An experienced designer helped us to make our wish come true. She thought through everything to the smallest detail, advised the best materials, in terms of price and quality.
During the renovation process, we encountered a number of difficulties, the main one of which was the lack of dismantling of the old walls at the time of the measurements. As a result, discrepancies were allowed, but the deviation should have been no more than 3 cm. We ordered the tabletop under the windowsill with this tolerance. It turned out great, this place replaced our dining area.
The difficulty was also in the fact that we could not decide on the choice of the oven. The fact that we need it was not in doubt, even though we do not cook in it every day. Standard-sized models did not suit us, and narrow devices cost much more than classic ovens. In addition, we prefer the equipment of well-known brands, and reliable world manufacturers simply do not produce such models. Therefore, the choice was very limited.
My wife insisted that the kitchen must be bright. White is a classic that fits perfectly in such a small space. Light colors create coziness, especially since our entire apartment is decorated in a similar range, and the kitchen is no exception.
We were not worried about the fact that the kitchen would have to constantly maintain order, this is natural. There was more fear that our baby Vova and the youngest member of the family, the puppy Grisha, would “kill” the white kitchen. But then they decided that this could happen to a kitchen of any color, and the fear receded.
We started the repairs with dismantling all surfaces, moving the gas meter, laying new pipes, installing electrical wiring. We designed the ceiling and tiled the walls. By the way, we have been looking for wall coverings for a long time, we wanted to make these surfaces white as well.
But with a wide selection of light-colored tiles, a glossy finish is sold mainly, and a matte finish is more difficult to find. Once we saw the desired option, but the Italian tiles were too expensive for us. In the end, quite by accident they found square wall tiles of exactly the texture they were looking for.
It turned out very elegant and stylish. We even managed to save a lot, although we had to make small changes to the original project. At the time of the readiness of the kitchen set, all the walls and the floor were already decorated, pipes were installed, lighting was made, all equipment was bought and an outlet for the hood was organized.
We made built-in lighting - three bulbs on the stretch ceiling, and a chandelier. By the way, the only one in the whole apartment. There is more than enough light for the kitchen. The floors were laid with rectangular porcelain stoneware tiles, which were acquired almost immediately. The color was also decided quickly, brown shades go well with white walls and light furniture.
All equipment was bought in an online store, with the exception of the dishwasher. She was already with us at the time of the move. All devices were brought and checked on the spot. We made special demands on the refrigerator. This unit should be no wider than 55 cm, otherwise it simply would not fit in the kitchen.
They took a powerful, wide hood. It is worth noting that our walls are absolutely free, as we decided, we did not make a lot of wall cabinets. The only exceptions are a small cabinet in the corner, an extractor hood and an open shelf for small items.
The technique of black and gray colors was not chosen by chance, it looks good on a white background, diluting light colors. This makes the kitchen look more lively. We also bought a sink and mixer tap from well-known brands. We have seen enough chairs in one of the shops for a long time. They fit perfectly into the kitchen space in style.
The headset was ready a couple of days earlier than expected. Even his installation took place without incident. We were pleasantly surprised by this, since we encountered difficulties more than once during the renovation process. We installed it quickly, and we became the owners of a brand new wonderful kitchen.
Our beautiful and bright kitchen cost about 300 thousand rubles, of which about 95 thousand rubles were spent on the set, and about 80 thousand rubles on the equipment.
The renovation is completed, there are only pleasant worries associated with bringing comfort. We are waiting - we will not wait until we gather with friends, set the table and conduct leisurely conversations in a pleasant atmosphere.
