Kinds

  1. Classic. This type consists of a one-piece textile fabric, lifting which even horizontal folds are formed. This window design looks simple, but at the same time the classic look is universal and will suit any interior.
  2. Cascading. Such curtains consist of a single canvas, but in the open state they still have falling horizontal folds. In the kitchen, they are most often used in interiors with a traditional or country design.

Device and principle of operation

Such curtains represent a cornice on which a canvas of textiles is placed. Horizontally, at regular intervals, the curtain is pierced with thin strips, and at the end there is a special weighting agent. Movement and height adjustment is carried out thanks to lacing mechanisms or a chain. When going up, uniform folds are formed on the canvas - they can be fixed at any height. The cornice can be attached both to a separate window sash and to the entire window opening.

Advantages

  • Professionally made curtains are made of durable fabric with a special impregnation, which guarantees the strength of the product, resistance to fading and odor absorption. They will not only delight the eye, but will also last much longer than ordinary kitchen curtains;
  • Maximum convenience. This type of curtain can be selected for each individual window size. Any housewife will love the ability to quickly adjust the illumination in the room, simply by changing the height of their rise;

  • Having a rather laconic design, they are able to stay clean longer. This point is especially relevant for kitchens, where windows are in close proximity to the surface of the stove, and the curtains are constantly exposed to steam, smoke and oil splashes;
  • Thanks to the small amount of fabric, they are easy to hang up and take off. Maintenance also requires a minimum of effort: all planks should be removed from the canvas and washed as usual. It is worth remembering: if there are natural fibers in the base, then manual washing should be preferred instead of machine washing;
  • Better than blinds. When choosing between these two types, it is worth remembering that “curtains from Rome” never get tangled, descend and ascend evenly and do not emit any unpleasant sounds (in contrast to blinds);
  • Aesthetic aspect. Their design is always graceful and is a stylish addition to any interior.

Flaws

  • The inability to slightly move the curtain to the side and look out. To gain access to the view from the window, they must be raised to eye level;
  • To open the window for ventilation, the curtain must be fully raised. Therefore, ventilation becomes impossible with a curtained window opening;
  • It will take a little longer to hang / curtain a window than with conventional curtains on a cornice.

The choice of fabric in the interior design of the kitchen

The kitchen is not only one of the most visited places in the apartment, but also a functionally significant room with its own characteristics. When choosing a curtain fabric, it is worth considering not only the design of the room, but also the specifics of the kitchen. Therefore, the material for such a task should be chosen wear-resistant and practical - it is very important that you can wash it yourself, if necessary, without going to dry-cleaner for these purposes. It is also worth remembering that kitchen curtains must resist odor absorption and be easy to clean.

For these purposes, synthetic materials are most suitable. But the concept itself translates the desire for naturalness and environmental friendliness, how to solve this dilemma? It is for such cases that natural fabrics are produced with the addition of a small percentage. synthetic fibers: synthetics are not felt at all, but significantly improves durability and strength.

Ideas and tips for decorating a window

When decorating kitchen windows, do not forget about the design and the aesthetic component. Despite their simplicity, they can become a highlight of the kitchen and complete the composition with high quality.

Combination of shades

For example, suitable for the kitchen theme are Red, citric, light green and bright orange. Contrasting shades will perfectly fit into a minimalistic and modern interior, but pastel shades will look most advantageous for retro and classic designs.

Double curtain

A very interesting effect is obtained by simultaneously fixing two canvases on the window: one of the translucent, a light curtain (serves as a replacement for light tulle), and the second of a darker and denser fabric (for protection from the sun).

Decoration

If this type of curtain is used in a room that is at the same time both the kitchen and the dining room, then it makes sense to make them more graceful by decorating the canvases with embroidery, fringe or small tassels.
